Sherwood Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 Any other notable augmented reality apps for the iPhone, JinP? I've read about a few for Android (notably the HTC Hero), but not much on the iPhone.
jinp6301 Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 All I know of is [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5M-oAmBDcZk]YouTube - ARToolKit v4.4 running on iPhone[/ame] but that should open up a lot of stuff
recstar24 Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 (edited) I'm tethered! Cooooollllll.....hope I don't get charged extra for this EDIT: Surprised how fast it is. Considering how buggy my comcast modem and netgear router can be, plus how old the network card on the laptop is, tethering may be a feasible option for me. Edited July 23, 2009 by recstar24
HeadphoneAddict Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 iPhone 3.1 beta 2 breaks tethering, so stay away.
Sherwood Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 Unless you jailbroke, in which case you'd have had tethering for a year now.
elnero Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 If you play any games on the iPhone you should check out Big Top 10, Kill All Bugs! and Puzzlings. They're all very different games but from the same company.
blessingx Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 In case anyone is looking for a GPS app, still expensive at $70, but $30 off regular price. Lots of very good and very bad reviews. Navigon MobileNavigator GPS App for iPhone $70 - dealmac.com
n_maher Posted July 29, 2009 Author Report Posted July 29, 2009 Anyone care to recommend a good, inexpensive car charger?
The Monkey Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 I'm fed up with the piece of shit phone reception that AT&T has in Manhattan. Does the 3GS improve this in any way over the first gen? My guess would be no (I think Dan said something to this effect?), but any further insights would be appreciated. Otherwise, I need to get something from Verizon.
grawk Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 Sometimes there is 3g coverage where there isn't edge coverage. But the main problem in manhattan is at&t's frequency range doesnt' penetrate buildings very well.

grawk Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 Yup, it's a problem for everyone but verizon and nextel in nyc.
The Monkey Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 Unfortunately, AT&T's frequency range doesn't seem to penetrate air very well.
grawk Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 AT&T works just fine for me almost everywhere I go...
n_maher Posted July 29, 2009 Author Report Posted July 29, 2009 They have pretty gappy coverage in NH, more so than any of the other carriers (Sprint, Verizon). For now it's not a big issue for me, but it is annoying.
The Monkey Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 I just got back from the AT&T store and asked the guy about 3G coverage in Manhattan. He acknowledged that it was a bit of a problem, but that some of it was due to the fact that AT&T is trying to rapidly upgrade the area by mid-August. He seemed relatively knowledgeable, but what the hell else was he going to say? So I smashed one of the hello kitty phones into little bits and stormed out.

recstar24 Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 Ok another iphone newbie question...I remember reading on HF a long time ago that the headphone jack is of a different size and that normal headphone/IEM mini plugs don't quite fit. Well that is the case with my shure se530's, then mini plug is unable to fit directly into the headphone jack of my iphone 3g (which sucked for our trip to San Daniego I must add). I believe I need an adaptor of some sort, anyone that can help out with a link would be great.
Dusty Chalk Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 I believe I bought one or two of these: Amazon.com: Headphone Adapter for Apple iPhone Recessed Jack, 3.5mm Male Female Extension Plug - Black: Electronics
