postjack Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 That is so amazingly untrue. i fail to see the melodiousness of any previous hip hop artist. eric b. is a legend, for sure, but his beats were still just as stilted, wooden, and robotic as grandmaster flash's or nwa's. and don't even get me started on krs-one or bdp. and then suddenly the hip hop world is smacked upside the head with the damn near narcotic flow of "nuthin' but a g thang"...
postjack Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 Here's another cross generational classic comparison: DSOTM vs. OKC. spent plenty of time in high school philosophizing over the relative merits of these two.

jinp6301 Posted March 10, 2008 Author Report Posted March 10, 2008 So I ended up comparing A Tribe Called Quest - Low End Theory and Nirvana - Nevermind. Whats pretty cool is that they were both released on the exact same day!

Very cool comparison, seeing as how these albums existed on two extremes of that rather large genre exclusive to the late eighties and early nineties called "alternative".
bjw Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 How about: Sgt Pepper's vs. We're only in it for the money (zappa) -or- Pink Floyd: The Wall vs. The Who: Tommy
aardvark baguette Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 Beatles: Sgt Peppers Lonely Hears Club Band Britney Spears: ...Baby One More Time comparison would contrast an artist's music + studio engineer prowess/direction/input etc, versus no original artist music + all studio engineer prowess/direction/input etc.
