Smeggy Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 For 300$ that is indeed a steal!! Japan rocks for good deals but weakening dollar is making it harder to find any... :'( Cool shit alert! Just got home and they are the original Lambda Normals and they do sound nicer than the 404 by a good chunk imo. I'm a happy bunny
Fungi Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 I just got the Sony ECR-500, do I get to join the non-dynamic club?
Smeggy Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 I just got the Sony ECR-500, do I get to join the non-dynamic club? With ECR-500's? Sure do!
deepak Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 Cool shit alert! Just got home and they are the original Lambda Normals and they do sound nicer than the 404 by a good chunk imo. I'm a happy bunny Woop SR-Lambda crew
deepak Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 I might need to buy a 6-pin connector for the Blue Hawaii, I don't know if I'm going to be able to part with them even though I'm strictly one headphone type a guy.
Fitz Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 I just got the Sony ECR-500, do I get to join the non-dynamic club? Aw man, I may just have to get me a pair of those sometime too. Minh didn't show up at the last ATL meet, so I didn't get to listen to his pair again.
spritzer Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 I might need to buy a 6-pin connector for the Blue Hawaii, I don't know if I'm going to be able to part with them even though I'm strictly one headphone type a guy. No BH is complete without at least 3 bias supplies, Normal, Pro and one variable up to 1000v...
Smeggy Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 That third bias supply is to attach to the testicles of people who don't own 'stats.
Fitz Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 That third bias supply is to attach to the testicles of people who don't own 'stats. Kinky.
swt61 Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 The variable supply would be great for the KOSS stats!
dc Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 wtf? what kind of stat would handle up yo 1000v?
n_maher Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 That third bias supply is to attach to the testicles of people who don't own 'stats. Easy there killer, or I'll attach you to the HV supply for the menace and see how you like 400ma of 300V.
Fungi Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 $$$ show me the money! $$$ All right, you are now first in line to buy these ECR-500s when I decide to sell them (probably not in a long time if ever, these are sexy as hell).
dc Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 All right, you are now first in line to buy these ECR-500s when I decide to sell them (probably not in a long time if ever, these are sexy as hell). yay! \o/ you wouldn't also happen to have Koss ESP-950 or the SR-Lambda (non pro) for sale too would you?
Fungi Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 yay! \o/ you wouldn't also happen to have Koss ESP-950 or the SR-Lambda (non pro) for sale too would you? I just got my feet wet with electrostats, but I am finally hearing something that makes music reproduction sound effortless. That's as well as I can explain it, but these things are good. I'm afraid I'm getting pulled into the dark side. I would love to hear those sets myself.
spritzer Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 wtf? what kind of stat would handle up yo 1000v? The PS2 Jecklins run at 1550v DC+ but I'm mainly future proofing the amp just in case I ever break down and start to prototype the driver designs I've been dreaming up over the last few years.
dc Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 IC are you still selling your lambdas? willing to hook a brother up with a sweet deal?
Fungi Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 What is the proper care of electrostats regarding plugging stuff in and turning stuff on? They seem to be very sensitive pieces of equipment from what I've read.
Dusty Chalk Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 I just got my feet wet with electrostats...Bad idea.
spritzer Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 IC are you still selling your lambdas? willing to hook a brother up with a sweet deal? All the normal bias Lambdas are sold and I only have a Lambda Pro for sale. I'm always willing to discuss a deal to help out a fellow addict... What is the proper care of electrostats regarding plugging stuff in and turning stuff on? They seem to be very sensitive pieces of equipment from what I've read. They are very sensitive and delicate instruments so I never plug them in with music playing and always let them charge up for a second or two before hitting play. When I unplug the phones I always short out the pins to discharge the diaphragm. It's also not wise to run the amps without a load present for any length of time but that's about it.
postjack Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 When I unplug the phones I always short out the pins to discharge the diaphragm. I recall reading about this elsewhere. Whats the procedure again for shorting out the pins?
