Just a heads up for anyone who may not have realized the day was here...

Goldfrapp - [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Seventh-Tree-Special-Goldfrapp/dp/B0011FXLCC/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1204040010&sr=8-1]Seventh Tree[/ame] came out today.

I've been lucky enough to have been listening to this for a few months now and all I can say is...

main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1244&g2_serialNumber=1&g2_GALLERYSID=ac8d7b0e4b50189e30ad6ac825084717

While it's unmistakabley Goldfrapp, it's unlike anything they've done before. Alison's voice is a great as ever, and if anything, Will's stripped down soundscapes that are probably closest to folk provide an even better stage to showcase that voice. It's far closer to Felt Mountain than Black Cherry or Supernature, but even still it's not a retread of that sound either... It's more straight forward. So far I've seen mixed reviews, but I think it's an absolutely beautiful record. "Eat Yourself" is the stand out track for me, but there's not a weak one among them.

I totally agree that this is a departure album while still being true to their [super]nature. Sorry for the bad pun. Anyway, somebody in these parts hooked me up with the tracks as well, and I have not yet bought the disc but that will be remedied soon. Good to hear about the deluxe edition, I will look for it.

The Deluxe Edition is pretty neat... Small box with heavy cardstock booklet, poster, postcards, the CD and a DVD, all for $1 more than the standard edition at my local shop.
Goddamnit, there's a deluxe edition? I wonder if the import will be SACD again, like Supernature...

(makes a mental note not to unseal the standard edition he just bought)
