Salt Peanuts Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Apple released the new updated MacBook Pro and MacBook models today. Only 30 days after I bought my MacBook, too. Stupid Apple not going by their usual update/upgrade schedule.
tkam Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Not really a surprise since most other manufacturers were making the new Penrym Core2Duo's available Apple was bound to do the same thing sooner or later.

Yeah, I was just hoping they'd just update the MacBook Pro, since they hadn't touched the lineup since June (they upgraded the MacBook back in November). Oh well, I'll win some and I'll lose some.
n_maher Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Why not see if you can still return the Macbook you just bought?
Salt Peanuts Posted February 26, 2008 Author Report Posted February 26, 2008 Why not see if you can still return the Macbook you just bought? I've already checked that and I was told no.
n_maher Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 I've already checked that and I was told no. Bummer, but it's also likely that you'd never notice the difference with the new processor.
Salt Peanuts Posted February 26, 2008 Author Report Posted February 26, 2008 Bummer, but it's also likely that you'd never notice the difference with the new processor. Yep, and I've used it extensively the past month, so it's not like I bought it and didn't use it. Plus, since I use a wireless mouse 90% of the time with the MacBook, missing out on the Multi-Touch trackpad feature is not a big deal.

Plus, since I use a wireless mouse 90% of the time with the MacBook, missing out on the Multi-Touch trackpad feature is not a big deal. And here I am hoping that the laptop that I ordered today will finally mean that I get to start using a laptop extensively again!
Salt Peanuts Posted February 26, 2008 Author Report Posted February 26, 2008 And here I am hoping that the laptop that I ordered today will finally mean that I get to start using a laptop extensively again! Yeah, it's funny how little use my iMac has received the past month. What did you order, btw?
en480c4 Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 And here I am hoping that the laptop that I ordered today will finally mean that I get to start using a laptop extensively again! :fingerscrossed: What this time?
grawk Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 I think the macbook didn't get the multitouch trackpad, anyway, just the pro
n_maher Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 :fingerscrossed: What this time? What did you order, btw? Not saying a thing till it arrives and works flawlessly, I've been entirely too cursed lately to do otherwise.
Salt Peanuts Posted February 26, 2008 Author Report Posted February 26, 2008 I think the macbook didn't get the multitouch trackpad, anyway, just the pro Ah, good catch there. I just assumed that both lineup received the new trackpad when it was mentioned on the tagline.
ojnihs Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 I think the macbook didn't get the multitouch trackpad, anyway, just the pro wasn't apple trying to make it a point to say that only the macbook air would be getting the new trackpad?
grawk Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 wasn't apple trying to make it a point to say that only the macbook air would be getting the new trackpad? That's never how I read it. I read it as only the air had it at that time. The pro definitely has it, regardless.
philodox Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Wow, I just checked, and the Mac Pro that I would buy if I won the lottery would run me $22K. Nice.
ojnihs Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Wow, I just checked, and the Mac Pro that I would buy if I won the lottery would run me $22K. Nice. yeah those fully upgraded mac pros can get really expensive
n_maher Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Wow, I just checked, and the Mac Pro that I would buy if I won the lottery would run me $22K. Nice. Surely there's a decimal point missing there. $22,000 for a laptop?
Voltron Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Not saying a thing till it arrives and works flawlessly, I've been entirely too cursed lately to do otherwise. Good idea Nate, and good luck with the next one! Sorry about the Apple upgrade story, Salty, I have been burned by them so many times it is hard to remember them all. I still love Apple and want them to come out with new stuff, it is just when they are off their normal schedule like this that it cuts even deeper.
