guzziguy Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Oh would you two just get a room already! Now we understand why Boomana wanted to get Grawk as a bodyguard!
boomana Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Poor Ian and the Aardvark, trying to get the thread back on topic. Now we understand why Boomana wanted to get Grawk as a bodyguard! Grawk is tyrion's bodyguard, but since Mike's mine, grawk is mine by extension, though now with Nate in the picture, I suspect Dan will be a bit too busy to help if I really need it. I think I'll stick with South Florida Chris. He is going to take me to the shooting range, anyway, so I won't be needing any y'all.

boomana Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Typhoid Mary, armed and dangerous! Guns are fun
Smeggy Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Guns are fun I haven't shot a real gun since 1984. I certainly don't miss cleaning them
JBLoudG20 Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 That's what guy friends are for.... On the contrary, that's why we keep women around
grawk Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 I kinda look at cleaning them afterwards as the meditation that helps the adrenaline level go down a bit. So in some ways, it's the yin to the yang of shooting
boomana Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 On the contrary, that's why we keep women around I don't know those women.
aardvark baguette Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 I've gone to a shooting range a few times, and just rented a gun; no clean up afterwards Grawk, its a long shot, but MSAR in upper Marlborough had a used P90 for sale in 2007 that you could also rent and shoot It may still be there. It was going for $1500 if I remember correctly.
grawk Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 I'm not sure what you're suggesting? I have more than enough guns...
aardvark baguette Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Just a heads-up in case you were interested in shooting an unusual gun. No harm no foul.
grawk Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Just a heads-up in case you were interested in shooting an unusual gun. No harm no foul. Ah, thanks. I hit the point of no space or desire for more guns a few years back. Right now, I 'd say it's safe to say I have more net worth in ww2 german handguns than I do in my house

I haven't owned a gun since 1979, when my parents made me get rid of the nice little 22 my boyfriend had given me for my 18th birthday a year earlier. It was gun or college. Since my college degree got me a lot of waitress jobs, I'm not sure I chose wisely.

But I've ended up with a gun or 2 since then... But really, owning guns can be a hassle. Nothing is worse than the sinking feeling you get when a gun gets stolen, for example.

AAfter putting 200 rounds through it cleaning took the best part of 2 hours.

Smeggy Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 gallil? Were you israeli army? British L1A1 SLR. It's based on the Belgian FN used by armies around the world.
Smeggy Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 sok, I moved yours too. one more to go Those ferkin things are probably why I have tinnitus today.
grawk Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 British L1A1 SLR. It's based on the Belgian FN used by armies around the world. Ah. I'm still a big fan of the M16/AR15. I used to be accurate out to 400 yards with iron sites, and 5.56 is a lot lighter than 7.62. Plus mine had a grenade launcher strapped to the bottom. I still have an AR15, tho mine is .45acp.
Dusty Chalk Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 I like that this thread got sticky'd by disassociation.

grawk Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 At 400 yards I'd rather be hit by your 5,56 than my 7.62, put it that way. To be honest, as a foot soldier, if I ever felt the need to engage at 400 yards, I'd do something else. Or call in an airstrike. Most infantry combat is more like <100 yards.
