MexicanDragon Posted August 24, 2023 Report Posted August 24, 2023 https://techcrunch.com/2023/08/24/sony-is-buying-gaming-headphone-maker-audeze/ This should be interesting… 1
Knuckledragger Posted August 24, 2023 Report Posted August 24, 2023 Remember when a certain Kevin Gilmore described the way Sony operates as "wireless drive-by-wire" management? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
justin Posted August 24, 2023 Report Posted August 24, 2023 https://www.headamp.com/blogs/news/sony-buys-audeze The information they sent to dealers says that the company will remain independent with the same management and they'll continue to develop gaming products for non-Sony platforms 4 1
eggil Posted August 25, 2023 Report Posted August 25, 2023 Wow! This is news! I thought Edifier owned part of Audeze. Is this not true?
robm321 Posted August 25, 2023 Report Posted August 25, 2023 "gaming headphone maker" Because if they said audiophile headphone maker, no one would know what the hell they were talking about. 2

It certainly a big enough market to have analysts and paid reports. https://www.businessresearchinsights.com/market-reports/gaming-headsets-and-gaming-headphones-market-103280 The audiophile headphone market? robm321 Posted August 25, 2023 Report Posted August 25, 2023 It is clearly why Sony bought them. Expect them to to change their focus. 1

swt61 Posted August 25, 2023 Report Posted August 25, 2023 Whoa! When was the ban on Canadians (well, one Canadian) lifted? 🤪
TMoney Posted August 25, 2023 Report Posted August 25, 2023 I thought Sony already had a decent headphone lineup. I don’t really get this move. Great news for Audeze, on the other hand! I hate to say it, but I wouldn’t want to be getting in to the high end headphone market. At least as an apple user their stuff is so solid and the wireless connection so convenient that more often than not I’ll just put on the air pod max rather than fire up the main headphone rig. 1
Iron_Dreamer Posted August 25, 2023 Report Posted August 25, 2023 I'm safe and good, and as per the official statement "we continue with our mission to deliver best-in-class headphones to recording professionals, audiophiles, and gamers." 9
HiWire Posted August 25, 2023 Report Posted August 25, 2023 Microsoft didn't get rich by writing checks. Yes, I hope Audeze is able to continue without interference. Sennheiser is doing fine right now under new ownership, right?
CherryBomb Posted August 29, 2023 Report Posted August 29, 2023 This will be looked back on as bad news.

MexicanDragon Posted August 29, 2023 Author Report Posted August 29, 2023 Understand. Actually though about you the other day for some reason. I'll PM with chat info (Discord.) 1

My experience with American companies owned by Japanese corporations is that success or failure depends largely on whether the parent company allocated the budget for the American subsidiary in yen or dollars. Hope Audeze gets their budget in the stronger currency. That used to be dollars, but these days the dollar ain’t shit. 1
Oneguy Posted August 29, 2023 Report Posted August 29, 2023 What are you talking about? The dollar is swinging strong against the Yen and Yuan and just came off of parity with the Euro and almost parity with the Pound. 1
CherryBomb Posted August 30, 2023 Report Posted August 30, 2023 Yes, that was the point I was making. The Internet 🥱. . .
