tkam Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 I've had sp1 running on my laptop (vista home premium 64-bit) and my desktop (vista ultimate 64-bit) since Saturday. The install didn't take all that long for a service pack especially one this large and it worked flawlessly. The big problems I'd had with vista the "calculating time remaining" bug and the slow file copy bug have been completely fixed. The whole OS seems to be faster and more responsive over all. I've seen some reports of boot times increasing post-sp1 vs pre-sp1 but if it is any longer it hasn't been noticeable to me.
n_maher Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Cool Todd, I'm waiting on the official release next month.
Grand Enigma Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Cool... the file copy thing is rather annoying with my HTPC. Hope this speeds it up a bit.
Nenso Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 SP1 shouldn't be out yet. Vista is kinda a piece of junk until it comes out so I cannot wait.
Nenso Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 omg I just restarted my Asus VX2 Vista and.. it downloaded a huge file with 10 sections.. was that the SP1?
JBLoudG20 Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 omg I just restarted my Asus VX2 Vista and.. it downloaded a huge file with 10 sections.. was that the SP1? ZOMG! LIKE WOW
luvdunhill Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 I'm pulling it part at work to see what they "fixed" but didn't tell anyone about
Elephas Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 You can either download the Vista+SP1 disc image and do a clean install or use a script to make Windows Update download SP1. WU will download the Release Candidate, but it should be the same as SP1 RTM. I've had no problems either way.
