thrice Posted February 7, 2008 Author Report Posted February 7, 2008 Well, I've got a Dr. appt. today so we'll see. My ear feels "thick" for lack of a better word, almost blocked up, although I think I can hear the same volume out of the right ear as the left. My co-worker just got over an ear infection as did my bosses wife. Each of them had tinnitus and a little vertigo as a result. I don't have any vertigo, but I'm hoping this is all because of an ear infection and not permanent damage. I've always taken good care of my ears, plugs at concerts, reasonable volume when listening to headphones....etc. I hope to have a lifetime of ring-free hearing...we'll see.
boomana Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 I'm going with ear infection, especially considering I talked to John last night and he and Mike are both sick and I've got a sore throat. Hopefully, your ears will clear up in a couple days.
ojnihs Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 man, a few weeks ago i had an ear infection without any symptoms, besides vertigo. that was not fun. let us know how the doc appointment goes thrice. hopefully it's just a mild ear infection.

boomana Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 That'll teach you guys to play spin the bottle at a meet. I thought there was enough alcohol present to kill all the germs in Fairfax.
thrice Posted February 7, 2008 Author Report Posted February 7, 2008 That'll teach you guys to play spin the bottle at a meet. LOL, yeah I'm never hanging out with those people and their Typhoid Mary headphones.
n_maher Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 LOL, yeah I'm never hanging out with those people and their Typhoid Mary headphones. Oh dear, do I smell a new custom title for Boomana?
thrice Posted February 7, 2008 Author Report Posted February 7, 2008 Well, looks like this is going to go away of it's own accord...at least that's what the doctor thinks. She mentioned that sometimes flying can cause temporary tinnitus due the the change in air pressure. If it's still there in two weeks I go back for hearing tests. Since there isn't an infection or perforation in my eardrum and I'm not experiencing vertigo that's the skinny. I've been told to take some Sudafed, that might help a bit if there's an congestion that's causing it. Annoying, but I'm glad they can't find anything terribly wrong with me. So I'll just sit it out and take it easy on the headphones for awhile....oh yeah, NC meet this weekend that I'm hosting....argh!

I used to get it temporarily after landing when I used to fly a lot, but I attributed it to jet lag instead of pressure changes. Yay thrice!
JBLoudG20 Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 My, my mind is set so free, I'm where I want to be, to get the best from me.
Dusty Chalk Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 I hope it continues to go away of its own accord. I'll third the thought on temporary infection, but be particularly careful about babying your ears right now, and continue to do so after the symptoms fade. Drink plenty of fluids and get lots of rest. Did anything happen on the flight back from Mayberry-on-Acid?
thrice Posted February 7, 2008 Author Report Posted February 7, 2008 Did anything happen on the flight back from Mayberry-on-Acid? Nothing I can point to and say, ah, that's when it happened. Oh great...now it burns when I pee.... DAMNIT MAYBERRY!
guzziguy Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 That'll teach you guys to play spin the bottle at a meet. Or breathe the air on an airplane.
Smeggy Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 Or breathe the air on an airplane. Hmm, good point. Next flight I'm on I'll hold my breath until I get there. Don't want germsies.
boomana Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 LOL, yeah I'm never hanging out with those people and their Typhoid Mary headphones. Oh dear, do I smell a new custom title for Boomana? golly gee, thanks. Oh great...now it burns when I pee.... DAMNIT MAYBERRY! Uh....I ain't got nothing to do with that
thrice Posted February 9, 2008 Author Report Posted February 9, 2008 LOLZ. Actually it's cleared up nicely. Was there a little bit today but it seems to be gone now. I'll take it easy tomorrow at the NC meet, but damn that was scary for awhile there. I've always said to my wife that I could lose my sight, touch, taste, smell, but jebus don't take music away from me.
Salt Peanuts Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 Glad to hear the ear's clearing up, Stephen.
Dusty Chalk Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 I've always said ... that I could lose my sight, touch, taste, smell, but ... don't take music away from me.Amen.
guzziguy Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 LOLZ. <snip> I've always said to my wife that I could lose my sight, touch, taste, smell, but jebus don't take music away from me. If you lose taste or smell you'll no longer be enjoying any more Plinys, either Elder or Younger (Russian River Brewing Company). Are you sure you could give that up too?? Sure, I believe that!
Dusty Chalk Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 Well, I'm not Stephen, but...I've already pretty much had to give that up, and allergies prevent me from smelling quite a lot of the time.
thrice Posted February 9, 2008 Author Report Posted February 9, 2008 Oh damnit, I forgot about beer.... well if I had a choice, I listen to more music than beer, so...... BEER! no no no no...MUSIC!
