philodox
I'll probably be looking at that down the line. Since you own one, there is an added advantage that you can take measurements of yours for the requisite wooden faceplate.
swt61
Yeah buddy! A Bloodwood overlay would be sweet!
philodox
I've never purchased anything from Audiogon, and since this is in the states would probably just get someone down there to do the deal for me in any case, but what do you think of this? http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?dgtltran&1204827940
laxx
I swear there was one for sale here... That shit looks like it was ripped from the center dash of a car.
philodox
Yeah, there was, but it has been sold.
swt61
The Delta is a nice transport. Don't let the textured blah Black look fool you. The money is put into the SQ, and not flashy trim.
philodox
That does look pretty cool. How old are those parasound units? I like the description, but it sounds like something where I'd be screwed if it broke. The Cal Audio wouldn't have been any better for that, but it is half the cost. I think swt61 had a parasound unit at some point, but I'm not sure if it was this particular model.
swt61
No it wasn't that model, but that's "THE" Parasound to get. It's a belt drive, and it is a nice transport. Very few problems with them even today. I believe Parasound still warehouses belts for these. Again it's a top loader though, will that work in your rack? Edit: (just realized it says belt drive in flashing neon letters)
philodox
I'm sure I can make it work. Now, can I afford it? Probably not.
swt61
In all honesty I think you'd be happy with the Delta.
philodox
Yeah, I'm just worried about it breaking down... and I don't like it all that much aesthetically speaking.
swt61
It's not overly pretty, I'll give you that. Just keep poking around, maybe you'll run into something you like better. The Deltas are relatively easy to come by.
philodox
Yeah, I'm in no big rush really, especially now that I can just use my eastsound in the meantime.
luvdunhill
Yeah, I'm just worried about it breaking down... and I don't like it all that much aesthetically speaking. I've been in and out of that transport. First, there is a company still servicing them. Secondly, the laser assemblies are very common, and run $10-$20. I found them at http://www.electronix.com/. I don't remember the exact part number, but it's not hard to find one you open it. The transport mechanism is made by Technics.
n_maher
Not sure if this transport as AES or not but if someone was looking for a good, inexpensive transport I'd snatch this up. http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?dgtltran&1209096234 Heck, if my EAD wasn't arriving today I'd buy it. I might anyway...

n_maher
DOOO EEAATT I think when the wife sees yet another CD player arriving today she's likely to be less than impressed. If I had to admit that I had yet another one ordered she might kill me.

swt61
Wow, damn nice transport at a bargain price! Those TEACs give you a whole lot of what the Esoteric (TEAC) does at a fraction of the cost.
n_maher
Well, looks like I might be buying the TEAC after all considering that the EAD just showed up and is pretty much non-fucking-functional. I mean I suppose that I could use it if I could find a way to slide the CD in without the drawer opening but that doesn't appeal to me all that much. So pissed, so fucking pissed.
