Salt Peanuts Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 Well, it seems AKG has updated some of their mid-level phones. I just bought my K271 couple of months ago, too. http://www.akg.com/site/press_center/powerslave,id,152,nodeid,0,_language,EN,nodeid,33.html Quote
Fungi Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 Fitz can tell you all about AKG "revisions" Quote
ph0rk Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 From their info page it just looks like they're throwing in accessories, at least w/ the k271 and k240. They could have made some other substantive changes, but then why the II? Sucks if you bought them recently, but I bet the newer boxes won't get down to the prices the old version did for awhile. Salt Peanuts Posted January 22, 2008 Author Report Posted January 22, 2008 I didn't really read/look all that closely, but changes look to be merely cosmetic. It's nice now that they're going to include velour pads, though. You don't have to deal with trying to get it from AKG. Quote
ph0rk Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 both cables are a nice addition, too. I'm betting the k271 II won't go for $150, though :/ Quote
Salt Peanuts Posted January 22, 2008 Author Report Posted January 22, 2008 I'm betting the k271 II won't go for $150, though :/ Probably not, though when you factor in buying velour pads, that brings the price to about $190 or so. Quote
fierce_freak Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 Looks like they also have some other new models, like K242 and K272 HD. Quote
ph0rk Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 k242 is oldschool iirc. I've never heard of a k272 and akg's website hasn't either. Where did you see this? Quote

Salt Peanuts Posted January 23, 2008 Author Report Posted January 23, 2008 K272 HD looks like K271 with updated cosmetics and non-detachable cable. Quote
ph0rk Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Do they have any text behind their password protection, or only pictures? Quote

swt61 Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 I have to say that I really like the updated retro styling, even though retro has been so overdone lately. Quote
Fitz Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 I think the "HD" ones are ugly as sin. This coming from someone who feels the K1000 and Stax Sigma make him look sexy as can be. Quote
ph0rk Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 If they're just fixed-cable home versions blah - detachable cables for me. Quote
philodox Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 I'm all about dual entry recables, so it makes no difference to me. Quote
ojnihs Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 I'm all about dual entry recables, so it makes no difference to me. i'm assuming you mean you hate having the cable only on one side right? because if you do, i'm in the same boat, that's the one thing that bugged the shit out of me with the AKG K271S and led me to sell it.
