luvdunhill Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 If low gain is all you want and amplifier only, get a RSA Tomahawk. The low gain setting is a gain of Zero. Can't get much lower than that. I had plenty of volume range with the Tomahawk with IEM's. -Ed I thought Tomahawk's had -1 gain ....
Edwood Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 the Tomahawk is a bad ass pocket attenuator. Yes, more or less the Tomahawk was an un-amplifier for my purposes. Mostly filtering the nasty hissy analog output of my iRiver iHP-120. -Ed

I know the sonic character of Rays stuff, I want to be sure that there is an improvement in SQ rather then a "pocket attenuator". I am not up for the FOTM just because. just like a home system, I want to upgrade to the best sounding portable amp I can find that has synegy w/ the trips.
