jinp6301 Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 I'm tying to find reasons to buy the pico, but the limiting factor is that it only takes usb so is there some wierd thing that converts optical or coax spdif signals to usb? Probably not
ojnihs Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 may as well throw some pine cones and twigs in there for flavor
luvdunhill Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 maybe m-audio sells something for the dj / recording type? I seriously doubt such a thing exists. For DIY possibilities, how about one of these: http://focus.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/pcm2707.pdf ^^ ^^ dunno what I'm smoking ... please ignore
Dusty Chalk Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 I'm tying to find reasons to buy the pico, but the limiting factor is that it only takes usb so is there some wierd thing that converts optical or coax spdif signals to usb? Probably not No, don't, just get something else. The target market is for people who want to use it straight out of the USB. I think.
jinp6301 Posted January 18, 2008 Author Report Posted January 18, 2008 the only thing I dislike about the use of usb only is that I hate being tied down to my computer all the time. When I'm listening to music before I sleep, I dont want to stare at a bright ass laptop screen when I'm changing songs
Dusty Chalk Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Well, then what were you planning on using as a source? Just use the analog input.
jinp6301 Posted January 18, 2008 Author Report Posted January 18, 2008 iriver ihp-140/cheap dvd player arghh, maybe I should just rethink my entire rig and go comp as source. if only the squeezebox/ez-stream had usb outputs
Dusty Chalk Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 arghh, maybe I should just rethink my entire rig and go comp as source.Dew et.
jinp6301 Posted January 18, 2008 Author Report Posted January 18, 2008 airport express...dew eet I would if I could find a way to avoid huge screens in front of my face all the time when I'm listening to music. The answer here is probably getting an iphone and using signal MOAR MONIEZZZ
grawk Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 I would if I could find a way to avoid huge screens in front of my face all the time when I'm listening to music. The answer here is probably getting an iphone and using signal MOAR MONIEZZZ Or a nokia 770 and signal My airport express will be for sale if I get the duet.
jinp6301 Posted January 18, 2008 Author Report Posted January 18, 2008 so either get an aex + cheap pda or get an older squeezebox (per nates suggestion ) or get used to huge screens in front of my face when I want to listen to music. I'll figure something out
ojnihs Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 well i use frontrow with my Airport Express. I guess i could utilize my iPhone too, but since my macbook has a remote and all, frontrow just works. course it's a little different when you don't use a mac.
grawk Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Or don't have line of sight, which the aex makes easy . Putting the AEX away from the mac, means you could need to control a remote mac.
Nenso Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 So did you find a solution to the optical/coax to USB? *patiently waits for my Pico* I too would like to avoid using USB and use optical digital instead \
