granodemostasa Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 um... if it is spreading by skin contact... wouldn't normal people be infected by just shaking hands with infected people? if that's possible, this thing could easily affect the regular population.... and then boom... a new black plague! Thelonious Monk Posted January 16, 2008 Author Report Posted January 16, 2008 um... if it is spreading by skin contact... wouldn't normal people be infected by just shaking hands with infected people? if that's possible, this thing could easily affect the regular population.... and then boom... a new black plague! Yes, normal people can be infected, too. But it's much more easily spread by anal sex, as the article states. And homosexual men have lots of anal sex. Quote
JBLoudG20 Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 And homosexual men have lots of anal sex. Let us know when you get the disease. Quote
Thelonious Monk Posted January 16, 2008 Author Report Posted January 16, 2008 Let us know when you get the disease. I've always been more of a cocksucker. Quote
Spiug31 Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 I like how the journalist reported the results "The Castro district in San Francisco has the highest number of gay residents in the country, according to the University of California, San Francisco. One in 588 residents is infected with the new multidrug-resistant MRSA strain, the study found. That compares with 1 in 3,800 people in San Francisco, according to statistical analyses based on ZIP codes." A new disease, spread by contact and it has localised dispersion what a suprise Quote
Spiug31 Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 quite enlightening how most superbugs are removed by soap. It's been a noticeable point with MRSA over here that hospital/ward cleanliness is being pushed back up the agenda to being a key point to patient care. Quote

Spiug31 Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 On a related note - it's been just over 150 years since Florence Nightingale made her fame by advocating for cleanliness in wards. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florence_Nightingale Quote

JBLoudG20 Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 uneducated idiot! it was a joke, btw Quote
deepak Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 i read a study, a while ago, that suggested that bacterial infections in hospitals could be reduced by something like 75% if medical practitioners used gel alcohol to clean their hands several times a day. Ideally people should use the alcohol hand gel or wash their hands (and do it properly) after seeing every patient. Quote
