Salt Peanuts Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 Crossover office or parallels etc Yeah, but don't they still require Windows OS? I don't have those discs anymore either.
luvdunhill Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 Crossover office or parallels etc doesn't WINE run on a Mac?
Salt Peanuts Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 doesn't WINE run on a Mac? It did at one point, but I don't know about now. Now that I think of it, Crossover is a commercial version of WINE, which means I don't need Windows OS to run Windows programs (in theory). I may just give it shot.

grawk Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 http://astro.neutral.org/anodise.shtml Very cool, Nate, dew eet.
Salt Peanuts Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 what is the deal with the Xhadow stuff? Expensive.
Spiug31 Posted January 16, 2008 Author Report Posted January 16, 2008 You should ask FPE if they can handle material thicker than 4mm, then you can just buy the panel from Hifi2000 and send it to FPE for fabrication. They allow you to send the material to be modified, I do know that for sure. I've put an e-mail off to [email protected] + [email protected] and will report what they say. I've just got a reply from FPE: We do have thicker material, but not in all colors and thicknesses. Yes, we can mill a threaded hole on a 10mm panel. We do have 10mm material in natural anodized or raw aluminum. so thickness wise I see no problem , I'm now waiting to gauge a Xhadow gender module and find out exactly what will be required. :twiddling_thumbs: p.s. the reply was fast and freindly, I can see why they frequently get recommended
Spiug31 Posted January 19, 2008 Author Report Posted January 19, 2008 A pair of Xhadow connectors arrived today Comparing the thread pitch against 55o Whitworth gauge, 60o Metric and ANT gauges. The best fit in each scale is 26G, 1.0mm and 26. Of these the metric 60o 1.0mm pitch is visually the closest fit and when gauge thread is matched with the Xhadow nut, provides a strong, stable connection with very little play back and forth. Once a digital calliper arrives (early next week) I'll measure thread depth and nut internal diameter. p.s. The rear barrel nut on the Xhadow connector is too small a diameter to be used directly with the gender module.
Spiug31 Posted January 23, 2008 Author Report Posted January 23, 2008 This is the results of my measurements - I don't currently have access to a technical drawing package so it's not to scale but the measurements are as described.
Spiug31 Posted October 3, 2008 Author Report Posted October 3, 2008 an update with some pics of the mounts. no sound impressions yet but I`ve enjoyed the process of design
Grand Enigma Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 The Xhadows are pretty. I quite like them They are a great match for UPOCC wire... especially that used for my Apex cable
n_maher Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 Shame they don't make a 4-pin cable-mount male XLR.
Grand Enigma Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 Shame they don't make a 4-pin cable-mount male XLR. I have sent a few emails asking them to make 1/4" plugs and 4pin XLRs.
Spiug31 Posted October 3, 2008 Author Report Posted October 3, 2008 They are a great match for UPOCC wire Putting together a pair of xhadow terminated balanced interconnects are the next audio project in my future. Mogami Neglex, Silver plated copper, UPOCC silver, UPOCC copper, Mundorf silver/gold and some of the Aural Harmony wire are each on my current list to hear
