Salt Peanuts Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 Do Logitech ship to Canada? If so, they have a 20% off coupon going for trading in old Logitech product (e.g., mouse).
Beefy Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 Do Logitech ship to Canada? If so, they have a 20% off coupon going for trading in old Logitech product (e.g., mouse). Unfortunately not. The Touch is supposed to be a logitech.com exclusive shipping only to the US. This store has only just in the last month managed to wrangle some stock.
Salt Peanuts Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 That sucks. Assuming the store will honor warranty/help you if need arises, that seems like the best bet. If not, they always pop up on Audiogon for $270 or less.
recstar24 Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 Ok, let me see if I have this right. The touch can operate without using a computer, you can hook up an external USB hard drive to it, and I can use my iPad to control it?

recstar24 Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 (edited) Ok. I think i have finally found what I have been looking for to get into a wireless based source. Woot. Edit: I will have to read more about it, but I fear that the touch could actually lag and skip when hooked up to an external. One review on amazon mentioned that it may not work smoothly with external hard drive usage. Edited October 16, 2010 by recstar24

Easier to transfer files to the NAS than moving a USB device from your Touch to your computer and back.
recstar24 Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 Ok last question I swear. There are conflicting reports, the absolute sound review says the USB drive has to have its own power supply as the touh can power them, but everywhere else it says it should be ok. Can anyone confirm/deny?
Beefy Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 I would personally use a full-size drive (3.5") with its own power supply. If only because it will have considerably faster read and seek times than a 2.5" bus-powered model.
morphsci Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 ^^^ This if you mainly want to use it as a standalone device.
Beefy Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 Well, I just ordered a Touch from Solutions A/V and it should be here mid next week. As a bonus, the missus agreed to pay for it as a birthday gift, so it doesn't even eat into my own play money!

dsavitsk Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 And search around for quiet drives -- many hard drives are too noisy.
Grahame Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 Plus for you iPad owners iPeng for iPad for iPad on the iTunes App Store
Beefy Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 The Squeezebox Touch kicks arse. That is all.
Nebby Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 The Squeezebox Touch kicks arse. That is all. I completely agree with this statement.
Yikes Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 The Squeezebox Touch kicks arse. That is all. Come on tell us what you really feel.
Salt Peanuts Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Those using Touch with Slimserver (or whatever it is called now-a-days) and not an external storage connected directly to Touch, any issues with Touch randomly losing the context of library, requiring rescan of the library? After my SB3's library went missing again this weekend (and now not reappearing even after two full rescans), I'm just wondering if Touch is any better in this regard than good ol' SB3.
morphsci Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 My touch is more "touchy" about losing the library. This is using squeezecenter on an Imac and the library on a networked Mac mini. Neither one of the duets currently in service had this problem nor the Boom. The SB3s are currently not in use, but they never really had that problem either. My quess is that it is an interaction with the built-in server software as well as perhaps polling of the USB port. But then again, I'm certainly no expert.
luvdunhill Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 I've had this happen a few times with my SB Radio and never could figure out why. There is a good amount of info in the logs though, have you checked there?
Salt Peanuts Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 ^ Delayed responding on my part, but when I looked at the log a while back, I didn't really see anything noteworthy. Now it has sort of fixed itself in that I can go into my "Music Folder" and access all of my music but, inexplicably, nothing shows up under "Artists" now.
Dusty Chalk Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 Isn't there some sort of "reindexing" that you need to do?
Salt Peanuts Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 I've cleared my library and rescanned it multiple times now to no avail. I've also tried reinstalling slimserver but that didn't help either.
Salt Peanuts Posted November 20, 2010 Report Posted November 20, 2010 So I figured out the problem. I had songs in iTunes "unchecked" while doing something on it, and Squeezebox takes out "unchecked" songs from the library (as I have Squeezebox configured to use my iTunes library). So this whole thing was an user error.
blessingx Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 Anyone compare the iPeng for iPad and Squeezepad apps by chance? Have been using the iPeng on the iPhone, but the Squeezepads stream to iPad functionality (for an additional $5) seems useful.
