hYdrociTy Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 GROUP METEOR SHOWER WATCHING! 1:40AM Eastern Standard Time Post pictures and/or impressions here. That means people with large fast digital slr's capable of large dynamic range. Like you nate. Carbon Fiber tripods recommended. Since this event also coincides with GIN HOUR (1AM EST), I would like to think of this as an evening party. Most of you don't care, but when was the last time you stopped and smelled the roses? Or looked at the sky? In this day and age of computers and instant on demand high quality music/movies/tv, I think we all need to slow down and enjoy the natural wonders that have entertained and stupefied mankind for millenniums. sourse: http://news.yahoo.com/s/space/20080103/sc_space/mustseemeteorshowerfridaymorning
Chekhonte Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 It's too goddamn bad that there is 100% cloud coverage here in the pacific northwest. Please post picks if you have them. I was an astronomy major at one point and love this kind of shit.
aerius Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 I saw the Perseids meteor shower this summer, and another time when it was a meteor storm. I learned that wishing upon a shooting star doesn't work, unfortunately.
JBLoudG20 Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 I actually have my DSLR with me, as well as my Manfrotto

bhd812 Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 went outside to smoke... seen a few blinking dots up there but nothing moving up, down, left, or right... then again I don't think i could get the best view being in a City.... and it was cold.
hYdrociTy Posted January 4, 2008 Author Report Posted January 4, 2008 I saw four!, one of them spectacularly close. My heart jumped each time and was worth standing out in the cold..
Dusty Chalk Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 Shit, I forgot. I was probably even driving home at the time. Shit fuck fuck shit. (Can you tell I've been watching Deadwood? Oh, wait, I forgot...) Cocksucker. (I just watched the Mr. Wu episode.)
laxx Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 Dammit! I didn't see this thread. Oh well, I was fucking on hold with Verizon from 11:30 pm to 2 am last night until I gave up and went to bed. I still remember seeing my first meteor shower. It was Nov 2001 and I was upstate at SUNY Albany. We were outside on the softball field at 4AM when we looked up and just saw orange rain in the sky. It was beautiful.
