Grand Enigma Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 A few days I placed an order for a pair of Super Freqs on a whim after stumbling across their website. Hard to pass up custom fit 3 driver IEMs for $189.99 Two days later the kit arrives. In side the box is two impression kits, pair of gloves, return labels and postage as well as instructions. About 18 minutes later the impressions are done and ready to be sent back. now back to waiting.....
Grand Enigma Posted December 31, 2007 Author Report Posted December 31, 2007 Forgot to note... humorously enough they come with Westone impression kits ... also I assume I am supposed to ignore the fact that it says for professional use only and the method described on the packaging on how to take the impressions is quite different than the method I was told to use.
deepak Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 Fixed your link in your first post (was pointing to http://www."http.com//www.freqonline.com/superfreq.htm%22). What IEMs will you be able to compare them to when you get them?
Grand Enigma Posted December 31, 2007 Author Report Posted December 31, 2007 SE530s, Ety 4p, Hoping to acquire a pair of Triple.Fis to try out. I have custom tips for the SE530s and 4ps so while they are not custom IEMs they are pretty darn close.
deepak Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 Sweet, eager to hear how they compare to the Etys!
jinp6301 Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 awesome, I'm still looking for something that will beat the etys without comfort issues and wont cost $1000. Hopefully these are it
Dusty Chalk Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 Thanks for informing us of this -- looking forward to your impressions.
boomana Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 This is good. The only iems I know well are the ER4s, the SE530, and the SE420s. I usually don't understand people's impressions as they make comparisons to things I don't know. I look forward to reading yours.
postjack Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 [me=postjack]snickers at the various references to "impressions"[/me]
Edwood Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 LOL, yeah. Grand Enigma's impressions are just too pink for my tastes. :prettyprincess:
Grand Enigma Posted January 1, 2008 Author Report Posted January 1, 2008 LOL, yeah. Grand Enigma's impressions are just too pink for my tastes. :prettyprincess: Don't worry the end result will be much blacker. I was original and went with triple black for the color.
Salt Peanuts Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 On a somewhat related note, from whom did you get the custom tip for ER4 and how do you like it, Zach?
Grand Enigma Posted January 1, 2008 Author Report Posted January 1, 2008 On a somewhat related note, from whom did you get the custom tip for ER4 and how do you like it, Zach? From these guys... and they are great. http://earplugstore.stores.yahoo.net/
Grand Enigma Posted January 10, 2008 Author Report Posted January 10, 2008 I received a vague email today letting me know I should have them in 1-3 days after they ship. I assume that means they have shipped?
Cynric Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 no tracking no or anything? Hope you don't get it delivered by a lazy ups guy. they left my 250$ mp3 player package laying widely visible in front of my apartment for 5 hrs yesterday instead of dropping it off at the mgmt office... anyway keep us informed about these, the price is pretty tempting.
Grand Enigma Posted January 11, 2008 Author Report Posted January 11, 2008 Received them today. Will post pics and impressions later tonight.
tyrion Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 Received them today. Will post pics and impressions later tonight. That's great Zack. Looking forward to hearing what you think about them.
Grand Enigma Posted January 13, 2008 Author Report Posted January 13, 2008 They are very good for the money. They are very natural sounding with just a bit of forwardness in the mids. Bass well controlled and deep yet not boomy in anyway. The have very good soundstage that actually extends out past your head a bit. There is a nice air to the sound. Very detailed and revealing though I would not say it is harsh or overly so.
Salt Peanuts Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 One more question for you, Zach - do you like them better than Ety w/ custom tips?
Grand Enigma Posted January 13, 2008 Author Report Posted January 13, 2008 One more question for you, Zach - do you like them better than Ety w/ custom tips? That I will have to get back to you on. The Super FreQs if even as good will be a savings of about $100 compared to $175 for the Etys and $115 for the custom tips.
