tom_hankins Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 I know all but three of those. Merry Christmas to you! Thanks! I have some of these on old vinyl now and others on redbook and sacd. The Diana Krall pressing is REALLY REALLY NICE! I have always liked the recording quality even more than the music on most of her stuff. This is the best recording I have by her and i have them all(most sacd) Purk is going to freak when he comes over and I drop the needle on this is album.
boomana Posted December 26, 2007 Author Report Posted December 26, 2007 Well, I only know the cds, so I can only dream of one day for vinyl (plan for late 2008/2009). Enjoy!
tom_hankins Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 Well, I only know the cds, so I can only dream of one day for vinyl (plan for late 2008/2009). Enjoy! I was worried that this would be a makeshift release to get the vinyl money. The Cds are so great sounding, i thought I might end up getting screwed. 110% happy.
boomana Posted December 26, 2007 Author Report Posted December 26, 2007 just go ahead and get into vinyl the using the Postjack method. Dare I ask what the Posjack method may be?
slwiser Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 My daughter got me this picture: From here: http://jasinski.deviantart.com/store/?itemids=-1&offset=0 This guy has a lot of headphone pictures.
boomana Posted December 26, 2007 Author Report Posted December 26, 2007 Thrice needs the penguin/headphone picture!!!
boomana Posted December 26, 2007 Author Report Posted December 26, 2007 it involves whips and chains, and buying some stuff, and then buying some more, and then buying yet more stuff, until you more or less decide you like the system, until you decide to buy more. I understand that working method, but I'm going radical for 2008: I'm gonna to save my money, do some research, and then buy one thing. Strange, I know, but I'm feeling brave. Also, I'm going to sell off most of my gear, except the essentials (whatever those may be).

Especially when means buying new gear.
bhjazz Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 Also, I'm going to sell off most of my gear, except the essentials. It's all essential. That's why you probably bought it in the first place. I keep putting a few dollars away here and there for a vinyl rig, apparently just like everyone else. I need a house first. No room in this stupid apartment.

Apartments are an excuse not to have speakers, no excuse for not having a vinyl setup
Salt Peanuts Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 that's more or less what i did when i bought the speaker rig. That's what I hope I will be doing if/when I get my own place. We'll see, though. I may have a tough time letting go of K1000.
tom_hankins Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 i have an apartment with a big ass non-working speaker rig, so it's NO EXCUSE! I dont know about you, but I dont do down time well at all. :'(
deepak Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 yeah, it sucks. fortunately, i have a pair of HD-650s ('bout time, Deepak) and a Gilmore Lite (thanks Haj!) coming my way, so i won't be music less for long But the Gilmore doesn't have XLR outs... ruh oh
deepak Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 is the Senn cable balanced only? i'm sure i can manage to put on a 1/4", if so. Hehe no I was just messing. The cable is the stock cable with 1/4->1/8 adapter.

Dusty Chalk Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 One of the problems with being an atheist and telling people you don't want anything for christmas is that they begin to believe you and stop getting you shit. I got a shitload of money, though, some of which will probably go towards the PS-1's.
Grand Enigma Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 I have been minus phono stage and preamp for some time... phono stage for about 2.5months and preamp for about 1.5 months. I have not listened for what feels like an eternity. Hopefully they are both ready soon.
Edwood Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 HeadAmp Pico as a gift to myself for being a good worker bee. Some holiday CD's from Head-Fi friends as well.
boomana Posted December 27, 2007 Author Report Posted December 27, 2007 It's all essential. That's what I'm afraid of finding out. I'm not a collector of stuff (maybe books) at all and I really want to get rid of at least 2/3 of my little acquisitions. The problems is that as soon as I listen to any of it, I remember why I bought it in the first place. I like it. A lot. It makes me really happy. All of it.
thrice Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 Gift to myself: Pico (coming soon and in an interesting color ) Gift to me from parents: Dremel 400 rotary tool (I needed and wanted one so it's perfect) Gift to wife: She's been wanting this for months and was so excited when she opened it up...made me very happy. Oh man, I definitely need more penguin/headphone related gear.
guzziguy Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 HeadAmp Pico as a gift to myself for being a good worker bee. I love the color scheme that you choose. If I get a Pico, I'll order the "Ed Wood Special".

If something makes you happy, it's pretty much a necessity. So enjoy and don't worry about it.
boomana Posted December 27, 2007 Author Report Posted December 27, 2007 Gift to myself: Pico (coming soon and in an interesting color ) What's an interesting color? Nice present to the wife. Are the tree branches and birdies on the first panel and the pink sky on the second?
