swt61 Posted December 19, 2020 Report Posted December 19, 2020 Be happy you don't live in Valdez, AK., where the snow often covers houses completely. 2

Jolly good. If anyone needs me, I will be flying to SA, renting a stepladder, returning it, renting a BIGGER stepladder, smacking 'stretch one, and flying home. (Not really.) 3
Torpedo Posted January 9, 2021 Report Posted January 9, 2021 I never thought I'd post in this thread, but climate change changes things. It's been snowing for 3 days and temperatures are rather low, so we have Madrid, an absolutely unprepared city, covered by snow layer of about 3ft. The problems are that they don't have the machines to remove the snow from the main roads, streets and avenues, nor can spread salt to avoid ice formation. I'm expecting absolute caos and confinement for about 2 weeks considering the temperatures forecast for the next week, most days below 0ºC (32ºF). I'm fearing food shortage. Not even my 83 years old aunt has ever seen such snowing 10
skullguise Posted January 30, 2021 Report Posted January 30, 2021 Yuck.....heard we were getting a Nor'easter but hadn't heard the snowfall expectation......I am near the "95" in Mass, right next to Lawrence.....
n_maher Posted January 30, 2021 Report Posted January 30, 2021 Thankfully the do not show any snow in NH on that map so I am going to assume that I get nothing. Oh wait, my phone just alerted me to a winter storm warning... 🤦🏻♂️ 1
guzziguy Posted January 31, 2021 Report Posted January 31, 2021 Like the joke. Sorry about the storm.
Grahame Posted February 1, 2021 Report Posted February 1, 2021 Have fun! Via: https://www.weather.gov/nerfc/snow ❄️❄️❄️
catscratch Posted February 2, 2021 Report Posted February 2, 2021 About a foot and a half here in jersey. Not the worst since the power stayed on this time. Knock on wood... 3
n_maher Posted February 2, 2021 Report Posted February 2, 2021 Started to snow in earnest around 5:30 and we've gotten a couple inches so far. We'll see how the night goes.

Knock on wood... Same here in Somerset county NJ. 18" and still falling. Snow blower is screaming for an overhaul but she blasted through it like a champ once warmed up 2
catscratch Posted February 2, 2021 Report Posted February 2, 2021 Best of luck to everybody. The wind wasn't as strong as advertised so fingers crossed it won't be destructive. My snowblower died two winters ago and I never bothered fixing it so... lots of digging today. But at least we had the sense to park one car closer to the end of the drive, so I didn't have to dig as much. Cheating ftw.
tkam Posted February 2, 2021 Report Posted February 2, 2021 Stay safe everyone! We're mostly spared here in Pittsburgh only maybe 3-5".
n_maher Posted February 2, 2021 Report Posted February 2, 2021 About 6" on the ground now so we're into the inch-an-hour territory of the storm. Predicted totals are still in the 10-18" range and I'm guessing we'll get ~12".
VPI Posted February 2, 2021 Report Posted February 2, 2021 We got 8” on Tuesday and 11” on Saturday/Sunday so I am officially worn out from shoveling. Think I might need a snow tank. 4
n_maher Posted February 3, 2021 Report Posted February 3, 2021 ^^^ If you want a track-based blower I'd recommend the Honda. A friend has one and loves it. We ended up with right around a foot of snow, on the heavier side, so I was glad to have a high-functioning snow blower. The windrow at the end of the driveway would have been a back breaker. Still not looking forward to dealing with the decks this weekend after the predicted rain Friday but there's no time to shovel them between now and Friday AM. 1

n_maher Posted February 6, 2021 Report Posted February 6, 2021 It would appear that we've turned a corner and are now in proper winter mode for the foreseeable future. Snow tomorrow (4-6"), more Tuesday (~3") and then the possibility of a major storm at the end of next week. Not complaining, if it's going to be winter it might as well really be winter. 2
Augsburger Posted February 7, 2021 Report Posted February 7, 2021 Short bike ride, hit 79 degrees today. Just sayin'
n_maher Posted February 7, 2021 Report Posted February 7, 2021 I mounted the studded MTB tires yesterday and went for a snow shoe in the afternoon to try to help pack the local trails. 😁 2
