acidbasement Posted April 29, 2014 Report Posted April 29, 2014 We didn't get the dump we were expecting yesterday. Nothing but sun in the forecast now! Until Saturday when they're calling for snow again. 1
HeadphoneAddict Posted May 12, 2014 Report Posted May 12, 2014 (edited) It's been snowing all day today. [edit - iPad flipped the pic upside down!] Edited May 12, 2014 by HeadphoneAddict
Dusty Chalk Posted May 12, 2014 Report Posted May 12, 2014 I thought you were trying to convey that God was shaking your snow-globe world. Also: yeezh, really? It's May.
Tyll Hertsens Posted May 12, 2014 Report Posted May 12, 2014 Snowed here last night, just a bit, didn't stick but on the branches.
Salt Peanuts Posted November 26, 2014 Author Report Posted November 26, 2014 (edited) Yep, it's that time of the year again. It looks like it's going to mess up our traveling plans. Oh and I think I broke all my shovels to varying degrees last winter. Edited November 26, 2014 by Salt Peanuts
acidbasement Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 Once again I didn't get the yard cleaned up before the snow covered everything.
Dusty Chalk Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 DC area is always borderline, so we won't know if we get any snow until tomorrow. According to the weather guy on the radio, it depends how cold we can work down to, before the precipitation starts in the afternoon. But because of what day it is (biggest driving day of the year), they're recommending everyone stay off the roads if they can, anyway, even if it's just rain.
acidbasement Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 Not a snow complaint, but jeezus, it was -29C here this morning. We don't usually get that till late December. It hurt my face to feed the cattle.
n_maher Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 It's about 25F colder here today than it was yesteray. Light rain has started so now it's a matter of whether or not it's going to drop another 10F to get snow. The forecast is still expecting it to make the turn around 3 this afternoon, just in time for the commute with 3-6" overnight.

acidbasement Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 Come on, Iain, we know that you love life in the frozen tundra. There's a definite endorphin rush from doing anything outside at this temperature, that's for sure.
Tyll Hertsens Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 5" of fresh snow yesterday and last night....it's a winter wonderland out there. Thank God I commute in my slippers. Really beautiful and quiet this morning. :sip 1

acidbasement Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 You must live in Manitoba? A few miles outside Erickson.
n_maher Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 4"+ of very wet snow so far, I can literally hear branches snapping trees outside. Here's to hoping that the power stays on.
Audiojunkie Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 A few miles outside Erickson. Gotta love them Manitoba winters that start in late October. My wife is from Winnipeg. The coldest I've been was one Christmas standing at the corner of Portage and Main. As the song goes..."Portage and Main, 50 below". On a similar note, I actually met Randy Bachman in Polo Place at a Sam the Record Man about 22 years ago. Very nice guy!
n_maher Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 Jinx!! Power has been out for an hour or so, generator is running strong and I'm pretty happy thy I went out and bought more gas after dinner. One of the trees in our front yard has 1/3 less branches.
skullguise Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 Whoa, nasty crap Nate, glad you are prepared. Heavy wet snow here, but not many inches yet, and we still have power (our wiring is underground, but we are very susceptible to lousy feeder grids). We're supposed to be heading out early tomorrow morning to head to Long Island, hopefully all will be OK. Stay warm, and good luck!
n_maher Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 Power just came back, 5 minutes after I topped up the generator, D'oh! Pictures of the trees, or what's left of them tomorrow.

I saw him around the River Heights area a few times when I lived in the city. Where do you live? -33C here this morning, and 5-10 cm of snow expected overnight tonight. guzziguy Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 It looks like the snow saved you some arborist money. Sorry for the extra work now though.

My mother-in law lives right by the Burton Cummings Community Centre and he's given the odd concert there from time to time. Wow...-33'C is damn cold! My wife and I live in southern Ontario...about 2'C here and no snow on the ground. We had a few inches, but that melted...we actually hit 18'C a few days ago. Edited November 27, 2014 by Audiojunkie
acidbasement Posted December 29, 2014 Report Posted December 29, 2014 -36'C this morning. Almost makes you want to stay inside and keep putting logs on the fire. Why did I come to work?
