revolink24 Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 I think Jacob's meds kicked in and he decided to alter the thread title a bit. I almost think this picture made more sense with the old thread title.
Dusty Chalk Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 So who knows how much are we getting? I'm trying to decide to leave with the crowds this afternoon and take 3 hours to get home, or to stay until it stops, taking the chance that I won't be able to go home at all.
aardvark baguette Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 epic retitle I have no office window, so I am left wondering all day...
Dreadhead Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 damn it's snowing already and I have to drive out to Carderock MD for a meeting which means I get to deal with snowy traffic on the way home... yay... edit: x2 on the epic retitle
Knuckledragger Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 It ain't snowing here in W.Mass yet, but all reports are that it is going to do so in copious quantity. We're supposed to a major storm this evening, and another one tomorrow. The local weatherdroid estimated the total between 12 and 16 inches.
Grahame Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 I just got off the phone with friend living in northern North Dakota near the Canadian border. He said that since early this morning the snow has been nearly waist high and is still falling. The temperature is dropping way below zero and the north wind is increasing to near gale force. His wife has done nothing but look through the kitchen window and just stare. He says that if it gets much worse, he may have to let her in.
manaox2 Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 I think even Shelly would be satisfied with the amount of ice here today, having a nice day off indoors.
Salt Peanuts Posted January 11, 2011 Author Report Posted January 11, 2011 The forecast is ~14 inches here. No work for me tomorrow since they decided make us take a vacation day if we were working at school tomorrow (I work at a private residential school for kids with special needs).
manaox2 Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 I have a two hour delay tomorrow already, hope that doesn't change.
Dusty Chalk Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Snow looks like it might be delayed until after rush hour. (keeps fingers crossed)
Salt Peanuts Posted January 11, 2011 Author Report Posted January 11, 2011 Wait, did the title change again?
laxx Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Expecting 8-14" here. "Work from home" tomorrow, lol.
Dusty Chalk Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 FUck, couldn't see it from my window, but it rained, now it's freezing.
n_maher Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Anywhere from 8 to 14 forecast here, but they've missed the mark badly for the last two storms (predicting much, getting little) so I'm not getting my hopes up. I'll be at work regardless, having about 2 months of work piled on my desk in the last two days all scheduled to be completed in the next 2 weeks.
Salt Peanuts Posted January 12, 2011 Author Report Posted January 12, 2011 That (work stuff) sucks, Nate. Here's hoping that it won't snow too badly so that your commute will be easy.
deepak Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Wait, did the title change again? Yeah I changed it back to Dan's thread title. I am hoping for a lot of snow. No work Thursday and Friday and I want to get some snowboarding in on the fresh stuff
Salt Peanuts Posted January 12, 2011 Author Report Posted January 12, 2011 I must be one of few New Englander (transplanted, of course) that doesn't ski or snowboard.
VPI Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Still coming down pretty well here. Fortunately, we have the maintenance guy and his lawn tractor from the Trump building next door sweeping our street so I should be good.
mypasswordis Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 I'm jealous of the people that either get real snow or nothing at all. This wishy washy dusting/freezing rain/1-2" bullshit sucks.
Salt Peanuts Posted January 12, 2011 Author Report Posted January 12, 2011 (edited) Backyard. I know it's hard to tell, but there's a good amount of snow on the ground already. Edited January 12, 2011 by Salt Peanuts
Salt Peanuts Posted January 12, 2011 Author Report Posted January 12, 2011 (edited) So supposedly, it's a wet, heavy snow this time and according to a local news station, a typical shovelful is going to weigh around 20 pounds. Joy. Edited January 12, 2011 by Salt Peanuts
mypasswordis Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Dude that actually sucks. Good luck, hope your back doesn't get strained too much. Or maybe you have a snow blower. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KeDuiDAZfo
Salt Peanuts Posted January 12, 2011 Author Report Posted January 12, 2011 Nope, no snow blower here. I haven't bought one since I have hard time justifying spending the money when the area in which I have to shovel isn't that large. We'll see how I feel about it after today.
Knuckledragger Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 We've got a metric butt-tonne of snow here already. I haven't attempted to open my front door yet, but I can tell it's going to be a PITA. The plow guy hasn't shown up yet. Maybe he committed Seppuku.
