The Monkey Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Looks like we're gonna get a big one today.
justin Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 about 16" here and about 12 hours to go...
aardvark baguette Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Just shoveled about 6" of it, still coming down. I'm not going to procrastinate with this one. It is a painful realization that I now live in a sidewalk-happy neighborhood.
Hopstretch Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Of course we had a nice evening in the city planned for tonight. Not looking promising right now. Depends on what time the snow starts coming down...
The Monkey Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 about 16" here and about 12 hours to go... You should go running soon.
justin Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 You should go running soon. thinking about how to get my car unstuck from the street. i don't have a shovel. i may just have to attack it like an animal
aardvark baguette Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 jesus christ everything i shoveled is already covered up again
spritzer Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 thinking about how to get my car unstuck from the street. i don't have a shovel. i may just have to attack it like an animal Want me to fedex you one of my shovels? Seeing I have no use for any of them...
Dreadhead Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 8-12" around here. Went for a nice walk. Shoveled 2x so far and will likely have to do it a couple more times. Supposed to go to a friend's holiday party but I don't think that's going to happen.
postjack Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 no snow in Mobile! none for Disney next week either. snow was beautiful in Charlottesville earlier this month. pretty neat for a yokel like me.
n_maher Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Been sitting at the airport for 3 hrs since our flight crew was delayed out of DC. If we board before 11 I'll be psyched.
Salt Peanuts Posted December 19, 2009 Author Report Posted December 19, 2009 Sorry to hear that, Nate. I'm hoping for minimal snow as per the initial forecast from yesterday, but I don't think we're going to be that lucky.
grawk Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 I have no plans to shovel I can walk to the grocery store, and I have 4wd if I really need to go anywhere, but I'll let mother nature and my south facing driveway fix it.
Dusty Chalk Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 jesus christ everything i shoveled is already covered up againYeah, we were going to wait until it stopped snowing before we started shoveling (a lesson we learned a couple years ago, or last year, I think -- walking all over the snow while it's still falling just packs it down, making it harder to shovel -- easier to do it just once), but I think around 3 I'm going to do a stint, just to lower the amount of work I do tomorrow.
The Monkey Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 (edited) Nothin' here yet, I am beginning to sense a glancing blow for NYC. EDIT: Of course, the predictions are now upped to 12-18 inches for us. Dan, get up on one of them 'puters you got and let me know what kind of weather the guvment is gonna dump on us. Dreadhead Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Well it's absolutely pissing from the sky around here. I'm thinking of doing shoveling round #3.
guzziguy Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 thinking about how to get my car unstuck from the street. i don't have a shovel. i may just have to attack it like animal fries. Just think In-N-Out.
manaox2 Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 I saw large fluffy snow here for the first time yesterday. Not a lick of it stuck.

mypasswordis Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Just now taking a momentary break from shoveling a shitload of snow off our giantass driveaway because my dad can't be bothered to figure out how to use the monstrous expensive snowblower we bought many years ago that has had absolutely no use since having been purchased. And apparently will continue to have no use. Good way to spend the holidays after the worst semester I've ever had. Edit: And the arsebiscuit actually had the nerve to complain to me that I was chucking the snow onto the bushes when it's going to get covered anyway because IT'S STILL SNOWING.
Hopstretch Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Edit: And the arsebiscuit actually had the nerve to complain to me that I was chucking the snow onto the bushes when it's going to get covered anyway because IT'S STILL SNOWING. You have a shovel in your hand. Take action!
mypasswordis Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 He has one, too. Not only that, all of our snow shovels are > 10 years old, rusted, barely able to maintain shape (most of the time unable, actually). Whatever, shoveling the shit out of snow has a certain stress-relieving effect. It also has a certain back-pain inducing effect. And back I go.
Dreadhead Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Just did the route from front door to sidewalk for the 3rd time today. Fuck this is a lot of snow. It's more than I've ever seen in Michigan, and I don't remember much about Kingston Ontario's snow other than there was a lot of it. Apparently people are doing XC up and down the local downtown's main drag. Too bad I don't have any XC skis. I really want to go mountain biking but I am going to wuss out. Maybe tomorrow.
Aimless1 Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 It's more than I've ever seen in Michigan, and I don't remember much about Kingston Ontario's snow other than there was a lot of it. You obviously did not spend winter in Michigan during the storm of '78. 23 inches in 24 hours. Hoping y'all don't get buried.
