n_maher Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 Yeah, it dipped to around -10 here last night and did not get close to breaking 30 today. The roller coaster of the next few days does not look fun.
Absorbine_Sr Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 (edited) We're getting a predicted 10" of new snow here, and the predicted high on Monday is -11 F. This could get interesting. Edited January 5, 2014 by Absorbine_Sr
Dusty Chalk Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 I couldn't get up the hill this last night (I.E. just a couple hours ago), even though there was less than an inch of snow on the ground, it was basically my friend's glorified driveway that he shares with one other house.
luvdunhill Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 We're getting a predicted 10" of new snow here, and the predicted high on Monday is -11 F. This could get interesting. Similar. I have no idea what alternate reality I have stepped into. We are not in Texas anymore.
Absorbine_Sr Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 Forecast for tomorrow morning includes wind chills of -52 F. 2
Absorbine_Sr Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 Those of you who sat on our deck last summer drinking Dark Lord, this is what the deck looks like today: And this is the drift outside the front door: 1
raffy Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 Cool, I wanna hang out outside! Seriously, stay warm Mike and Debbie!
morphsci Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 I would still drink Dark Lord on the porch in the snow. But I be crazy like that.
Absorbine_Sr Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 C'mon up Jim, I'll get the DL ready.
morphsci Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 Unfortunately I know from personal experience what I57 is like in a snowstorm. I'll take a rain check.
Absorbine_Sr Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 Yeah, we went out for a brief drive and it was hard just getting out of the subdivision. No one should be on the road in this stuff. My guess would be that I57 is probably closed in places due to drifting.
Pars Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 Had to take my son to work and just picked him up. Driving was OK (not good by any means). I'm not going out again today This is what our back yard looks like currently. Grilled some burgers on that grill last night, in the snow (deck had been shoveled).
Absorbine_Sr Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 (edited) Nevermind. Edited January 6, 2014 by Absorbine_Sr
Absorbine_Sr Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 I love it. In the past, in weather conditions like this, our company would close for the day. This time, even though the building is closed, telecommuting policy is in effect and Debbie and I will be expected to be in front of computers at home connected to work all day tomorrow... grrrrrrr
MexicanDragon Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 At least you're able to drink tomorrow. **BRENT**
emelius Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 It's worse here in Indy & still snowing...But I made it to the store(s) for supplies:)...
jvlgato Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 Yup, that's what our back yard and porch look like, Mike! Except for the psychedelic snow flakes. School is closed for the kids today. And they're not expected to attend via the computer!
Torpedo Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 ouch hope all are safe and warm! This. Your storms get here a few days later, but no snow, just rain and wind, fortunately temperatures don't drop below 0ºC.
VPI Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 Snow is mostly washed away here but I am contemplating running to REI to get a big puffy coat for tomorrow as I am not prepared at all for the temperatures tomorrow.
Aura Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) Got the car started but it definitely took a few extra ticks to turn over. Want to get this battery charged back up. It's -40 when you stand directly in the wind. Edited January 6, 2014 by Aura
