Salt Peanuts
They're saying upwards of 12" or more in my area over today and tomorrow. My school is closed for today and tomorrow so no work for me. Predictably, I have things that are due next week I was planning on getting done today & tomorrow, but I guess I'll be staying late on Monday. n_maher
12 to 16 predicted here overnight. There's a couple inches on the ground right now but the worst isn't due until later. It's frackong cold - 7F on the walk to work.
skullguise
Just came home from work, roads are OK but it's like they are saving the most snowplowing for the second part of the storm. I think ~12" expected where I am in MA. Will work from home tomorrow, and likely watch my VPN knock me out multiple times from the likely heavy use..... n_maher
Yeah, multiple accident reports on my path home so I'll be heading out pretty soon. Not sure what tomorrow will have in store since the storm isn't supposed to be over until mid-morning.
Grand Enigma
Calling for 8-12" here and -10 to -15 windchill overnight...
Dusty Chalk
Stay safe you guys. Radio is predicting "hardly anything" here (1-2").
Voltron
Indeed, stay safe and stay at home if you can.
n_maher
It's so cold and windy that the roads were clear on the way home. Funny how the fact that salt has been rendered useless makes it currently safer to drive. FYI it was colder at 3pm (5F) than it was at 7am (7F) - not a good sign. I'll mount the gopro on the tractor tomorrow for the fun that wil be clearing the drive way with windchills in the -20s.

raffy
Ugh Jacob, that sucks. Hope you didn't hurt it too bad.
n_maher
Ugh, Jacob. We got about 12" of light and fluffy annoyance. It's supposed to be bitterly cold tonight (-10, windchills in the -30's) and then warm up to just above freezing on Sunday and rain. WTF? Torpedo
Damn, Jacob, that sucks! Just thinking of it hurt myself Take care, man.
Dusty Chalk
Yeezh, Jacob. It's bitterly cold here, too. I don't think I'm leaving the apartment.
Nebby
I made it in to work today, but it was really slick around my apartment complex and the smaller roads. I hope that fall turns out to be not too bad, Jacob
grawk
I made it into work. No problems once I got out of my little valley. They closed the base once I'd been there 4 hrs, so I'm back home now.
swt61
Rest up Jacob. Don't push it too fast.
shellylh
Glad to hear you didn't get hurt too badly Jacob. We don't have any snow here bit I'm sick and tired of this cold weather. I moved to Texas for long summers and no winter...
morphsci
Our high on Monday is supposed to be -9, WTF!
Voltron
Jacob and icey sidewalks do not get along. I suggest new shoes: Could come in handy in the basement too.
n_maher
Jacob, you should seriously consider a pair of these. They actually issue them to us at work.
Salt Peanuts
^ What Nate said. Also, I've used Stablicers in the past with good results, though I don't remember what model I had (I've lost them during the last move). shellylh
Ok, a high of -9 seems pretty miserable. I assume you mean fahrenheit. Our low is predicted for 27 on Monday which is not horrible just annoying. I hope it doesn't get too much lower than than since when it gets close to 20 here, pipes start bursting (we really aren't set up for cold weather here including non-insulated pipes in our crawlspace). Pars
^ I remember the first December when I lived in Dallas. It got down to 5F for a day or so. The little furnace thingie in our apartment ran nonstop and only kept the apartment in the mid-50s. $300 heating bill that month. Sweet. According to the weather channel hourly forecast for Monday, it is supposed to be -19F when I go to work and -16F at noon. Nice. Add a 20+mph NNW wind. I might actually break out the parka Reks: for normal non-accessorized shoes/boots, I've always loved these Ecco Track II boots on slick surfaces; they grip the best of anything I have worn. Some sort of polyurethane sole. Never tried the Yaktrax or others and am sure they work well.

Grahame
Fuck In Snow? Sofa King Cold last night: Tuesday looks "fun", for brass monkey values of fun (metric values have a much more sensible zero point ...)
