n_maher Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 Easy 2' here with drifts well over 3' and probably approaching 4'. Took 2-1/2 hrs to snow blow the driveway which might be a record.
Salt Peanuts Posted February 9, 2013 Author Report Posted February 9, 2013 Just finished clearing out the driveway, walkway, and most of the roof. Predictably, my back and tendinitis are screaming at me at this point. I really need to buy a snow blower.

I find that owning a snowblower is like owning a generator, they sit unused for long periods of time ,but when you need them you are sure glad you bought them.

Wmcmanus Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 Hang in there, everyone. My thoughts are with you. Stay safe.
jpelg Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 40" officially here in Hamden, CT as reported by the national services & major networks. Drifts are even higher. Time to start the long process of digging the cars out. Thankful we have electricity.
drp Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 Bit over 30 inches where I live (Lake Boon; Stow MA). Shoveled for 3 hours; 4-Runner was completely buried with drift on one side almost to top of truck. Was breathtakingly beautiful; snowmobiles out on the lake were tearing it up. Same here, Haj, now thinking a snowblower would be a good investment. At least the power stayed on this time.
aerius Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 Just curious, did anyone turn their door into a beer fridge?
skullguise Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 ^^^ Win......only thought that was done in Canada
en480c4 Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 Not the exact same shot, but it does paint the picture... Before, taken Wednesday afternoon: After cleaning up today: 1
Salt Peanuts Posted February 10, 2013 Author Report Posted February 10, 2013 ...and I guess I'm going to have a 4-day weekend.
Salt Peanuts Posted March 8, 2013 Author Report Posted March 8, 2013 Another snow day for me and my district has used up all the snow days they had allotted - not that it matters since the school year will just keep getting extended to cover any additional snow days. Bit annoying in that due date for things don't get pushed back as well.
n_maher Posted March 8, 2013 Report Posted March 8, 2013 Yup, the wife is off today and now will be working into July.
Salt Peanuts Posted March 8, 2013 Author Report Posted March 8, 2013 (edited) That sucks, Nate. We are not there (working till July) yet and hopefully, won't get there. Edited March 8, 2013 by Salt Peanuts
skullguise Posted March 8, 2013 Report Posted March 8, 2013 We just got a fairly late cancel call, too. Sucks for your wife, Nate. Not sure if it's better or not, but I had heard of some places hit by Sandy cancelling school vacation weeks to make up for time lost, too....
bhjazz Posted March 8, 2013 Report Posted March 8, 2013 Hang in there, everyone. My thoughts are with you. Stay safe. No kidding. Make it stop, already! Oddly enough, the Seattle area has been completely blanked in the snow category.
n_maher Posted March 8, 2013 Report Posted March 8, 2013 10" + of fresh bullshit this morning. All plans for cycling this weekend are clearly scrapped. It's actually still snowing at work now and I am officially ready for spring.
skullguise Posted March 8, 2013 Report Posted March 8, 2013 Yeah, this is bizarre, I'm working from home, and my neighbor is on his third round of snowblowing....this shit does not stop! MAKE IT GO AWAY...! AAAAAWWWWWWAAAAAAYYYYYYY.....!
grawk Posted March 8, 2013 Report Posted March 8, 2013 You're in new england. If you don't like snow, you should try alabama...
drp Posted March 8, 2013 Report Posted March 8, 2013 ~18 inches in my area. Heavier variety of snow so it felt much like digging through our previous 30+ inch storm. My goofy cat has to inspect each time I shovel; must get ultra curious watching out the window. She's at the door to go out the second I finish; makes a bee-line out the fence and down the path. Scratches in any tiny patch of dirt when she's not digging through snow. 1
skullguise Posted March 9, 2013 Report Posted March 9, 2013 I think she has some mountain lion in her..... Dan, I can't move from new England, how else would I complain about New England? I have to complain in the Winter of cold and snow, Spring of too much rain, Summer of heat and humidity, and Fall....well, most likely the choking Red Sox. 1
