Aimless1 Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 9.5 inches overnight. Maybe another inch today. Wife's a school teacher and has a snow day with school closed. I think teachers get more giddy about snow days than their students. I, of course, will be going to work. Quote
The Monkey Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Really coming down here and blowing now. Upgraded to Blizzard Warning...and work is open for business. To be expected I suppose, but I found out that the procedure for deciding whether or not to close is made by the Senior Executive actually in the office on the day of the inclement weather. So, in other words, basically the person who lives closest and had the easiest time getting in makes the decision. Quote
Salt Peanuts Posted February 10, 2010 Author Report Posted February 10, 2010 Nothing here yet, though my work (private SPED school) is having an early dismissal, which hopefully means I'll get to go home a bit early. I just checked and the snow accumulation forecast in my area was downgraded. Quote
n_maher Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Once again we're not supposed to get squat up here, 1-3 inches. Quote
Dreadhead Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Coming down like mad and very windy here. Pretty good white out conditions as of right now. Quote
grawk Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 We've gotten at least 8, and it's supposed to really get going during the day... Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Really coming down here, no power outages yet. Quote
Torpedo Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Good luck, that seems a perfect storm Quote
aardvark baguette Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 The snow is going horizontal, briefly interrupted by clouds of the stuff flying off the roof. Quote
n_maher Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Snowing a bit here now, certainly not a blizzard. Quote
grawk Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 In the lower right hand corner, my car is there. It was parked on 4" of snow after the driveway had been clear yesterday. Quote
mypasswordis Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 I'd say it's damn well into blizzard territory here. I'm surprised my power hasn't gone out yet. Yeah, not going outside to shovel. Quote
jinp6301 Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Not too bad here in upstate NY Quote
guzziguy Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 The large snowfall amount has led to some opportunities. Quote
jinp6301 Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Not too bad here in upstate NY Enought to cancel classes tho! Whoooo Quote
Voltron Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Stay safe everybody in the storm! Quote
luvdunhill Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 cleared. WTF would happen if there was a fire or other emergency on the street? Are they going to park up the street and watch someone's house burn? well, if that person just took one for the team, it would probably help clear the street pretty damn quickly, ya know, being a fire and all. cetoole Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Its coming down here in Reading now, but still above freezing so not really sticking yet. Prediction is down to only about 3". Woohoo! Quote
deepak Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 About 2" here. Roads were fine. Quote
Knuckledragger Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 All we have here in W.Mass is a light dusting. It's just enough to make the trees look pretty. TWC says we'll get half an inch through 11PM. This is most odd. Quote
Salt Peanuts Posted February 10, 2010 Author Report Posted February 10, 2010 We got virtually nothing here in northern Mass - at least I did get out of work early. Quote
grawk Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 I've been calling it the "bubba zone" as in "Welcome to prison, here's your new cell mate, bubba" Quote
cetoole Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 Yeah, just a dusting here so far north of boston. Quote
Dreadhead Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 We got about 8-10" I would guess maybe a bit more. Hard to judge since it was blowing around so much. This has officially fucked any chance I have of racing on sunday I would say. Well unless I get one of these: http://linc.zenfolio.com/p575337168/h26f57291#h26f57291 Quote
