Aimless1 Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 I hired 2 guys from a local restaurant i was just at and made an offer to motivate them to do this now. Now its done and I'm no longer a prisoner. That was some good shoveling. Well done! The guys did a good job and brilliant move to hire someone else to shovel.
slwiser Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Hmm after considering the amount of effort it took to get your car free from the snow, I'm happy we have no snow. The trade off is crazy hot summers. How is the camel invasion going? I saw that on a video here in the States that over 6000 camels are invading one town down there. It looked simply crazy to me.
MomijiTMO Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Well considering I'm not living bush bush, I'm pretty camel free. Before the camel invasion there was a kangaroo invasion with people hiding in their homes from male roos. That was because the Russians won't buy our roo meat any more.
mrarroyo Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Darn! I had forgotten what it is like to have snow, yesterday morning the low in Miami Beach was like 62 degrees Fahrenheit and I love it. My wife was ready to put on a down jacket. Sure hope you all better days ahead w/ less snow.

It seems to be pretty hard to obtain in Canada, but I'd certainly be interested to try that someday. *cue animal defense league protest*
Hopstretch Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Wow, we can has snow! So much for the glancing blow.
Salt Peanuts Posted December 20, 2009 Author Report Posted December 20, 2009 How much did you end up getting your neck of woods, Stretch?
Hopstretch Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Still coming down hard here. Looks like we'll get a foot or so, easy. We're right on the edge of the Worcester snow band and usually get a couple inches more than the average for the region.

Crocodile is where it is at. It is like a strong flavoured, chicken.
Hopstretch Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 I like ostrich. Kudu steaks are the business, too, but a bit hard to come by outside the local area. Town plow just went by and sealed up our driveway with a nice big berm of snow. Won't be going anywhere for a while.

We're right on the edge of the Worcester snow band and usually get a couple inches more than the average for the region. That sucks. We got about 6-8 inches, I think, and it's still coming down at decent clip here, too. Hopefully, it stops snowing soon so I can start shoveling.
Dreadhead Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Went out and cleared off both cars, dug one car out and then did the sidewalk in front of the house (apparently that's the law around here). Now I'm thinking about shoveling back to the hot tub
The Monkey Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Beautiful pic, Dan. Nice shoveling, Justin. We got 11 inches or so here. Looks nice.
n_maher Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Snow, what snow? It's 75 and sunny where I am. Y'all are in the wrong spot. I guess we were pretty lucky to get out of Logan at all yesterday which finally happened just after I posted yesterday. I'm completely ignoring what my driveway probably looks like right now...
The Monkey Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Nate, glad you made it out. Where are you guys? N/M, saw the other thread.

I'm completely ignoring what my driveway probably looks like right now...DC got completely closed down (at least Dulles, didn't hear about the other two, but I'm thinking probably), you must have ended up either getting one of the last crews out, or they gave you an entirely different crew. Congrats on that! I haven't done a lick of shoveling, and our driveway is clear. Okay, my opinion of my housemate just went up a notch (she hired several guys).
grawk Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 As of midnight last night, dulles still had a runway open.
Dusty Chalk Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 They must have re-opened one, because I am sure I heard that they had all runways closed at one point. Which was, admittedly, earlier in the day (which also was, admittedly, shortly after Nate's "waiting" post).
guzziguy Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Nate, why don't ask/you hire somebody to clear your driveway so it's done when you return? You might as well make the trip perfect!
aardvark baguette Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 I'm freaking done shoveling. There is still snow, but the sun is going to have to get the rest. There was drifting apparently, as the snow came all the way up to the windows on my CRV on the driver side, so I just got in on the passenger side and pulled forward rather than shovel a pathway on the other side I really hope the rest of the year isnt like this, this was a lot of work, and I didnt even get payed to do it.

Dreadhead Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 So nice I posted it twice December Snow 2009 - a set on Flickr
grawk Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 (edited) chris, more wife, less chris... from our drive to get a tree: my house from the bottom of the driveway Edited December 20, 2009 by grawk
Salt Peanuts Posted December 20, 2009 Author Report Posted December 20, 2009 Well, shoveling wasn't as bad as I expected - gotta love light snow. I also appreciate the fact the town plow has yet to plow me in since we've moved here.
