Salt Peanuts Posted December 31, 2008 Author Report Posted December 31, 2008 Just finished up the first round of shoveling the driveway. 1/4"-1/2" of snow covered the driveway by the time I was done.
Hopstretch Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 We've had a good bit already. Still coming down. I got a snowthrower for Christmas, so I don't give a shit-diddly-dit anymore, do I? Of course, just for that, now it probably won't start...
n_maher Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 Yup, around 6" of the white BS here as well. Of course now it's 8 degrees out and the wind is fricken howling. I think wind chills tonight are supposed to be in the negative teens. I can't wait to clear the driveway tomorrow...

I'm glad I don't have to go to Storrs today.
n_maher Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 It's still insanely windy here, I'd guess the gusts are ~40mph at a minimum. I'm off to Lowes to get some materials to seal a few leaky windows.

I'm off to Lowes to get some materials to seal a few leaky windows. It's still a bit windy, but not so bad this morning. The trees in the woods are swaying a bit, but nothing too bad. My windows are drafty like crazy, but only my g/f complains. I love the cold.
Dusty Chalk Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 It was supposed to be gusts of up to 50-60 mph yesterday, but I went for a walk then anyway. I got lucky, most of our neighborhood got in the way, and I only felt maybe 10mph gusts.
boomana Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 I had to turn off the horrible x-mas music in this, but the video is really fun. Dog Having a Blast in the Snow - Video
Aimless1 Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 Hate it when you preview something and it appears to work ... but doesn't.
Salt Peanuts Posted January 5, 2009 Author Report Posted January 5, 2009 Hate it when you preview something and it appears to work ... but doesn't. And still not working.
Smeggy Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 It just dumped a new layer of snow here, tomorrows temp.. 47 deg Should be a slushy day at work.

Aimless1 Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 Thanks Duggeh! Another lesson learned as that's exactly what I'm doing and getting.

Torpedo Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 It's snowing in Madrid for more than two hours and still going strong. First and only snowing act in almost two years. There's about 1 foot of snow on the sidewalks and traffic is getting mad. This city isn't ready for such things Thanks God I'm enjoying a few holidays, so it won't fuck me up that much.
Salt Peanuts Posted January 11, 2009 Author Report Posted January 11, 2009 Well, the latest storm has dropped yet another few inches of snow. It looks like it's finally tapering off, so in a bit off to shoveling I go.
n_maher Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 7"+ here an still going but if it's done by you Haj it shouldn't be too long before it stops here.
Hopstretch Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Just finished clearing the first lot. Some nice solid glare ice underneath from the slushfest we had a few days back. Slippy work.
Aimless1 Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 another winter storm WARNING with 4-6 inches expected over night.
Beefy Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 with 4-6 inches expected over night. Yeah, but what about the snow? *chuckle* Sorry, that's all I got today
Old Pa Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 Four to five inches of powder yesterday during the day with a high of 10F. At midnight, we traded out "winter weather advisory" for a "wind chill advisory". This morning was -18F at the house and there was between an inch and fifteen inches of blowing/drifting powder to come off the drive. Plus a second heavy icey packed "gift" from the city plow. High today of 0F. Have to make another bird seed run. The little feathered fucks were all puffed up this morning at the feeder. Tonight is to be two to four more inches of powder. If it did not involve more population and pollution, I would be full committed to global warming.
