aerius
Near blizzard conditions right now, heavy snow with really strong winds. Visibility is around 100-150', and it's fucking cold with the goddamn windchill. I went outside to take a few pictures this afternoon and damn near got frostbite on my fingers. Dusty Chalk
I wore shorts like that to high school once. I think it was me and one other kid. He "made it all better" by raising his fist in solidarity and saying, "Bahama fan club for life!"

swt61
Did you guys get hit even harder last night, too? It's more than a foot over here. I went sledding with some friends & younger cousins down a 100 foot hill. Great stuff. The thing is, I decided to take a running start for my last run, riding on one of the little disc sleds. I veered off to the left to avoid hitting a toddler making his way up the hill, and hit a big bump going backwards, and ended up doing a barrel roll or two. When I got up, I realized that I'd shat myself. I've either dislocated/broken something in my pelvis, or there's just a lot of swelling. Worst place to get injured ever. Just when I start to get depressed because I live in Texas you guys make me happy I don't live in the frozen North any more.
Thelonious Monk
Just when I start to get depressed because I live in Texas you guys make me happy I don't live in the frozen North any more. The pain has mostly subsided. However, I haven't gone to the bathroom since a few hours before that post. Hmmm...
Pars
Time to resurrect this thread. The shit still sucks, and its only Dec. 1st; way too early to start this crap again!
Duggeh
We've had one snowfall. About 2 inches. Thats a hella lot for St. Andrews in November but it always melts really fast, must be the salt in the air. Fingers crossed for the first white Christmas since 1992. n_maher
I can't believe we haven't had any yet, mostly because I don't have the snow blower mounted on the tractor yet.
Hopstretch
Yeah, thank goodness the landscapers finally arrived today to clear the three inches or so of leaf litter we have around the house. Last year the snow made it before they did, so spring cleanup was a blast!
JBLoudG20
We had a dusting yesterday. It all melted in the rain last night/today.
deepak
Time to resurrect this thread. The shit still sucks, and its only Dec. 1st; way too early to start this crap again! Too early We used to get snow in October. In midwest Canada we'd see it in September
Sherwood
got about 12" over the weekend. Love it, love it, love it. I did doughnuts on the highschool's football field after taking off my plates and changing my tail lights. Woohoo!
Aura
Yesterday was the first true snowfall I've seen this season. Probably an inch or two I would guess, certainly not enough to have classes canceled. My fingers are crossed for the beginning of next semester . guzziguy
The high today in SB is about 69F. It feels warmer than that to me. We've had an incredibly warm autumn so far. It's unnatural.
Salt Peanuts
We got a dusting yesterday but that was it. I'm not looking forward to shoveling the driveway - this shall be the first winter for us in the house.
ingwe
An old coot down here left his (non-defrosting) outdoor game freezer door open this morning. Well, the resulting flurry caused multiple school and church closings. There was a run on the piggly- wiggly and circle-k.
Beefy
This thread resurrection is timely...... I might be moving from Australia to Halifax, NS for work in March. 35C hot summer days straight to -5C snowy winter. I don't know how I'll cope \
Salt Peanuts
Well, technically, fucking ice storm. The ice storm that hit the Northeast on Thursday to Friday left us with no power for close to 24 hours and we're pretty lucky to have it back already (we also just got back our internet service). We were afraid that our water pipes may burst as National Grid told us that power may not be back on till Monday or Tuesday. The ice storm also left me with some flooding in the basement and side yard full of trees and branches that snapped (narrowly missing the house) from the weight of ice. deepak
Still no damn power at my place in NH. And they are guesstimating it will be back Wednesday \ On the upside I missed Friday and Saturday's outage by going down to NYC which was hella fun and the meet rocked as well. It was around 45 F at my place, so at the moment I'm 'homeless doc' bumming it at the hospital.
Torpedo
Oh Deepak, I'm sorry for you. Good luck, I wish you get your power back soon. I wouldn't stand being at the hospital that long
Pars
Damn, that sucks Deepak. I hope you get your power back sooner than predicted!
deepak
Thanks guys! I kinda wish I asked my friend if it would be ok to stay for a couple more nights in the city, since I assumed this would be resolved by Monday.
