JBLoudG20 Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Jay - Biggie wouldn't be biggie if he followed your advice. Don't hate on him just cuz he's a big boy. Well he would have at least been a decent rapper then. Heavy breathing and taking a break to say UUUHH does not count as rhyming. Now if he took a break to say WOOHAAA, that's a different story.
grawk Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Good one -- I don't get them either. So you like them for the music. (to everyone else) See? It is possible to like them without "experiencing the experience". He likes post hiatus phish too...jack just wants to be a burnout, so pretends
JBLoudG20 Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 BLASPHEMY! I preferred 2pac in my naive youth, but with the experience my advanced years have brought me, I now fully understand the greatness that is C. Wallace. And if you wasn't fat he wouldn't be Biggie now would he? Nas is a better lyricist than the both of them combined, and I LOVE pac.
postjack Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 He likes post hiatus phish too...jack just wants to be a burnout, so pretends nah, i was always a tourist in the lot. I never completely fit in.
philodox Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 I love 2pac and really don't know a helluvalot about Biggie, but Snoop kicks both their asses... at least on doggystyle he did. At the end of the day though, I find myself listening to Tribe Called Quest more often, along with my 'new' favourite... Busta Rhymes [thanks Jay ].
JBLoudG20 Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 EWW snoop? NOW THAT's a bad rapper.
philodox Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Someone needs to listen to doggystyle again. The skits aside [i haaate skits] it is a great rap album. I can't conceive of anyone who likes rap not enjoying it.
philodox Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 hehe, OK! I'll get the fucking drift the next time I see it!
ojnihs Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 dude, the earlier stuff and the current stuff is completely different. as different as a philodox and a philo beddoe i can't get past his crooning.

I can't conceive of anyone who likes rap not enjoying it. i have heard it one more time than I care to have heard it. Absolute garbage in everyway. How about we talk about the bus-a-bus.
philodox Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 I have heard it one more time than I care to have heard it. Absolute garbage in every way.Snoop must have touched you in a bad place when you were little and you've blocked it out and lashed out at his music as a defense mechanism. That is the only way that this makes sense to me.
fierce_freak Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 I hate snoop's music, and I generally dislike pretty much all rap. I'm the corny guy that likes a lot of 80's and early 90's rap and hip hop, though.
ojnihs Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 ok, now i get out the banstick. it was nice knowing you, oj, nice knowing you. now reks, i thought we talked about this, after my LunchBoxII review. after. not before.

I'm with you on most everything else that he has released, but I really like that album. What rap do you like?
jinp6301 Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Bands I like a lot who others don't (in this thread): Ryan Adams. I urge people to listen to Heartbreaker, Cold Roses, and Jacksonville City Nights in their entirety before making any judgment calls. If you don't like him then, you are off the hook. He is a true master of song writing and vocals, and as a bonus his albums are recorded in a fashion super pleasing to this audiophile's ear. Gold has some good songs as well but not as consistent as Heartbreaker and Suicide Handbook is pretty damn good. SH is up there with CR and Heartbreaker in songwriting. but shitty encoding and I saw Dark Star Orchestra live last year, boring as hell for me but damn they go on for a LOOOONG time
n_maher Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 oh i got another one joanna newsom Took a while, but I finally got it and once I did I was glad to have taken the time.
ojnihs Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Took a while, but I finally got it and once I did I was glad to have taken the time. i just can't get over her voice
grawk Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 and I saw Dark Star Orchestra live last year, boring as hell for me but damn they go on for a LOOOONG time It may be boring, but at least there's a lot of it? For me, I'd never go to a DSO show. Why? Because I saw the real thing. I don't need to have them recreate a show. If I was at the original, I was there. If I wasn't, I wasn't. If I want to hear one of the old shows, I have access to almost all the material.
jinp6301 Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 i just can't get over her voice x2 I really like the Decemberists cover of Bridges and Balloons but I cant seem to get into her stuff. My friends love her though
recstar24 Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 I don't think I saw coldplay anywhere here. It would help if they actually knew how to play their instruments, but their songs are very simplistic, my 7th grade students can write better songs, and the lyrics to me are really corny. A watered down U2 in my book.
philodox Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Oh fuck yeah, coldplay is shite. Good call.

boomana Posted November 30, 2007 Author Report Posted November 30, 2007 on Coldplay and Amy Winehouse, too. I like her voice, but not what she does with it.
