ayt999 Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 <now where is that delete button when you need it?> now, you don't really need a delete function do you? let's pretend you were talking about pretzels (or churros) in that post.
tiberian Posted March 9, 2006 Author Report Posted March 9, 2006 OMG teh bass! full, fast and punchy.
philodox Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Damn straight... can't wait to see how it progresses as it burns in.
tiberian Posted March 9, 2006 Author Report Posted March 9, 2006 What happened to it? he got a lemon.
PFKMan23 Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 eh..I wouldn't go that far, atleast from what I saw. The problems that I saw that were my attenuator would go up/down in increments of 2+ instead of 1 and thathe silk screening was aready off in certain areas. Evidently though one of the parts was fried in the attenuator.
philodox Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 you getting a new one or did that turn you off the lavry?
PFKMan23 Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 I'm getting mine repaired, which should be back today, if the fed ex thing was accurate.
philodox Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 I've been trying to get an answer out of Dan Lavry about the balanced outputs on the DA10. http://www.lavryengineering.com/lavry_forum/viewtopic.php?t=62 Would him answering this question give away anything? I'm confused as to why he refuses to answer it.
PsychoZX Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 I've been trying to get an answer out of Dan Lavry about the balanced outputs on the DA10. http://www.lavryengineering.com/lavry_forum/viewtopic.php?t=62 Would him answering this question give away anything? I'm confused as to why he refuses to answer it. I posted something in hopes of getting things cleared up.
grawk Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 I read what he wrote as saying the amp is balanced internally, and he generates a single ended signal to go to the headphone jack. That's why there isn't an rca option. If he was single ended internally, he'd have rca outs as well, at a minimum.
philodox Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Well, whatever is going on with balanced outputs, it is gooooood. Listening right now with my K340's and loving it. EDIT: PsychoZX, thanks for backing me up there... maybe we will get an answer out of him now!
Grand Enigma Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 I should post the pics I took of the inside of the DA10 in that thread
blessingx Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 Side question: I haven't seen shots of the DA10s back. Are the XLR jacks male or female? Basically looking for which Headphile cable I'll need to run straight out of the back. PFKMan23, how did your repaired unit fair?
PFKMan23 Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 My repaired unit is fine, as far as which XLRs you will need you will need your XLRs to be female.
philodox Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 Male is the standard though, so it might be better for you to get them terminated that way and get some adapters or have adapter cables made... I'm looking at making some cables anyways since I don't want to have the Lavry in my rack backwards all the time.
Grand Enigma Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 Side question: I haven't seen shots of the DA10s back. Are the XLR jacks male or female? Basically looking for which Headphile cable I'll need to run straight out of the back. PFKMan23, how did your repaired unit fair? Here yah go. the jacks are the standard male. for a headphone cable you will be female XLRs... which is not the typical balanced cable option... might consider picking up some femail to female XLR adapters.
blessingx Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 Thanks guys. Adapters do seem the best bet.
blessingx Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 philodox, what brand is that bling? Coming close to dropping the cash for the DA10. Anyone got a cheap source for a decent female to female adapters? Been looking for an all in one dac/amp. Aria was a failure IMO in that department (dac just wasn't up to snuff). Hoping the DA10 saattiissffiiees.
