Icarium Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 Looking forward to someday having one of these built.
Nanoha Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Don't know, but I would be interested myself. And what happened to bamaslama boards?
kevin gilmore Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 I'm waiting for linear systems to get their butt in gear and actually deliver on lsk109's. Then the floodgates open. The lsk389 is so much better than either the 2sk389 or the individual versions used in the B52 that it is worth waiting to do it right. I have a dynafet prototype with 2sk389/2sj109 and it is kickass. No matching of parts will be necessary, just stuff the board and it works.
Edwood Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Will I be able to fry an egg on the heatsinks?
kevin gilmore Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Will I be able to fry an egg on the heatsinks? Nope. If you want to do that, find a raptor with the original power supply. Cooks eggs just fine.
Augsburger Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Nope. If you want to do that, find a raptor with the original power supply. Cooks eggs just fine. It is also great for refinishing furniture, it removes varnish and paint with ease. No need to visit Home Depot anymore.
DigiPete Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Kevin, Will the DynaFet work properly at a gain or 4 or 5 for 60ohm headphones, with just two output devices per channel vs. the 4 per channel, shown on the latest pcbs over on headwize? I know your original sketch showed two output devices per channel. Pete
Icarium Posted November 15, 2007 Author Report Posted November 15, 2007 Excellent KG, most excellent.
purk Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Is this the upgrade version of Dynamight?
PFKMan23 Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Isn't this a new project unrelated to the Dynahi/might?
Edwood Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Nope. If you want to do that, find a raptor with the original power supply. Cooks eggs just fine. Sweet, there should be more convergence headphone products. George Foreman Headphone Amp Grill!
aerius Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Isn't this a new project unrelated to the Dynahi/might? It's exactly the same, but completely different.
fierce_freak Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 I've been tinkering with tubes more lately, but I'll definitely build a dynafet when they're ready to go.
Icarium Posted November 15, 2007 Author Report Posted November 15, 2007 It's exactly the same, but completely different. It's actually a close cousin to the Dynasaur

Yes it will, without any additional compensation, i have one running at a gain of 4 now. You can certainly build it with 2 devices per channel. But i like the sound of the renasys fets over the international rectifier versions, and they are not as strong, so you really should do 4 of them. There are 4 different versions of the boards, and when i'm sure of the pinout of the lsj109 there will be 4 new versions. Build what ever turns your crank. Then again compaired to the toy output transistors on the (well you know) you could probably just build it with one set of output transistors. But where is the fun in that. Need to be able to drive k1000's to painfully loud levels.

Which fets are the renasys? the "well you know"?? Cheers Pete
amb Posted November 17, 2007 Report Posted November 17, 2007 Renesas is the (not so) new owner of what was once the semiconductor arm of Hitachi. The Renesas parts Kevin refers to are the 2SK213/2SJ76 - 2SK216/2SJ79.
kevin gilmore Posted November 17, 2007 Report Posted November 17, 2007 the "well you know" are those toy 400mw transistors one particular famous manufacturer and good friend of mine use...

amb Posted November 17, 2007 Report Posted November 17, 2007 amb, you should post more!! I would love to, but have trouble keeping up with too many forums. Aside from headwize which remains my mainstay, head-fi and here, I also peruse several other forums periodically.

deepak Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Kevin any updates? And is the finalized name of the amp DynaGBF?
kevin gilmore Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 still waiting for linear systems (or anyone else) to get off their asses and start selling dual matched complimentary front end fets. After that, lots of new stuff. Of course the world really does change in the middle of february.

cclragnarok Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 Middle of February? My birthday? Or the end of analog TV?
