Elephas Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 I was in a camera and photography-gear shop recently and noticed that they sold vacuum boxes. Apparently many photographers use the boxes to store their camera bodies and lenses. I bought one to try out. Repeatedly pulling a handle pumps air out of the container. I think it's useful to store electrostatic headphones and other gear sensitive to dust and humidity.
spritzer Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 This would be most useful with either one of the Sennheiser HE's as they don't like dust at all. Stax stats are better protected but humidity can kill any one of them.
Edwood Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 Hmmm. Not a bad idea at all. I keep my R10's in a clear plastic enclosure. I live in Southern California, so humidity is not a big concern for me. Although with natural materials like wood and leather, being too dry could be a problem as well. I do live close to the ocean, but not so close where I'd have to worry about salt corrosion (I used to live a couple of feet from the beach, and everything that could rust did so very quickly.)
