blessingx
Okay, I'm sure you've seen me asking questions on these setups recently, and I know these systems have little in common, but based I want I already have and some money I should have shortly I could have one of these setups. Soooo which would you choose?
tkam
Get the Lavry its a nice sounding and pretty versatile piece of gear.
PFKMan23
Lavry
philodox
I picked option 2 because I don't really like the Senns all that much... but option 1 is great as well if that is your thing.
tkam
Option 2 wouldn't be bad except the TubeDac isn't very good at all. Total lack of detail and low-end extension.
blessingx
Hmmm it may be tuberolling, but that hasn't been my experience with the TubeDAC+ (& 3XAC PS) at all. Haven't done a low end measurement, but to these ears there's no problem on that end.

edisonwu
If he want 650, he'd be better off going with external amp.
blessingx
Why do you say that edisonwu? Do you feel the balanced XLRs don't match a decent $500 amp? Curious because although I've heard the headphone out, I haven't straight XLR out. So far the best $500 amp I've heard is the RudiStor NX-01, though I don't know how it compares to the Lavry balanced.
edisonwu
a little own opinion, The headphone out is very good for 650. I just meant that 650 could go much further than that by external driving, compared with low-z headphone such as A900 or AD2000 (the headphone out is EXCELLENT paired either A900 or AD2000). If you need an all-in-one solution and you can get away from SENNHEISER (I cant, I am a senn guy), buy the one which you would get more than "good" or something like that from the internal driving. edisonwu
oh, yeah, I haven't try balanced XLRs, so I cant tell how good it is for 650.
philodox
I'm not a Sennheiser man, but I would think it would be an excellent match. The Headphone out doesn't sound all that great with high impedance headphones... better for Grado's and the like. The XLR outputs are another story.
