postjack Posted October 6, 2007 Author Report Posted October 6, 2007 is he still doing heroin? if not, i'm not interested. dude, he's been clean since Exciter. basically thats what his first solo album (Paper Monsters) was all about.
postjack Posted October 6, 2007 Author Report Posted October 6, 2007 i didn't listen to it, because he wasn't on smack. okay, I misread your first post.
Dusty Chalk Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 I don't remember liking Paper Monsters that much, but then, I only listened to it once. He still has one of the greatest voices in rock'n'roll.
postjack Posted October 16, 2007 Author Report Posted October 16, 2007 I don't remember liking Paper Monsters that much, but then, I only listened to it once. Yeah, its just an OK album. But... He still has one of the greatest voices in rock'n'roll. ...which is why I'm excited about the new album. The tracks on his myspace page sound good.
bhd812 Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 I listen to the tracks on myspace last night. damn dark DM style of course. I can't wait till it comes out! The tracks sound nice! is DM still together or did they split?
Dusty Chalk Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 They haven't technically split up yet, as far as I know. From wikipedia:In August 2007, in the midst of promotion for Dave Gahan's second solo album, Hourglass, it was announced that Depeche Mode could be heading back in studio in early 2008 to work on their upcoming twelfth studio album.
postjack Posted October 18, 2007 Author Report Posted October 18, 2007 They haven't technically split up yet, as far as I know. From wikipedia: Sounds good. I thought "Playing The Angel" had some superb songs on it. The mastering was wretched though, and the SACD wasn't too much better.
bhd812 Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 They haven't technically split up yet, as far as I know. From wikipedia: thanks for the info! I hope they don't really but i am sure not alone on this. DM is great cause when they make a sonic change they still sound like DM..good old DM. postjack did you listen to pta on vinyl? its somewhat better then cd..somewhat.

Thanks for the reminder, I've been meaning to pick that up! A few folks over at the Hoffman forums said it was the best out of all the versions. Still not great, but better then the others. I'll have to snag me a copy somewhere.
postjack Posted October 26, 2007 Author Report Posted October 26, 2007 Listening to this right now, so far I really like it! Gone are the bluesy leanings he had on "Paper Monsters", in favor of a much more electronic style that ranges from the portisheadie to the skinny puppyish, and this only in the first three tracks. Some great Gahan singing, growls, and yells. Pretty damn cool.
