Icarium Posted September 15, 2007 Report Posted September 15, 2007 http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampstube&1194912658 Looking at the parts used and the design it sounds like it might be kinda neat. Custom tango iron for 2.5k? Maybe I'll grab this for a K1000 amp. Some of direct coupled design? Yeah okay I really don't know enough to know if this is any good ;p Quote
hungrych Posted September 16, 2007 Report Posted September 16, 2007 I actually found the website if you wanted more info http://www.capilanoaudio.com/services.html Quote
Fing Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 Currently using a pair of 300B monoblocks to drive my AKG K1000 (out of a 1212m acting as pre / source \ ) Maxed out version costs $2790 and to my ears, is pretty good value. http://www.diyhifisupply.com/diyhs_Le_Club_Hifi.htm - scroll down to LD3++ Sounds very good! Fing Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 I chose this amp because the design was resurrected / championed by Thorsten Loesch, whose work I've been following for a while. Long review here: http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/1006/di_hifi_ladyday_91.htm Quote
Icarium Posted September 17, 2007 Author Report Posted September 17, 2007 Looks decent, I wonder what kind of transformers they use. Quote
Elephas Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 Hey, I've been looking for a power amp to drive the K1000! And also for use with a Stax transformer box. Quote
Icarium Posted September 18, 2007 Author Report Posted September 18, 2007 Man I guess Tango is out of business so those Tango transformers on the amp I posted is even more ideal in my mind. Worst case if it sucks can cannibalize the transformers for something else ;p I wish I had some k1ks to justify the purchase. Quote
