tkam Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 I like the new classic, metal casing and 160gigs is not a bad deal for $350. The nano is kinda nice I guess but I'm not interested in that little storage space. The touch is an utter joke.
Nanoha Posted September 5, 2007 Author Report Posted September 5, 2007 If only the iPod had native FLAC and/or drag-and-drop support, it would make the Classic utterly enticing. Otherwise, it's too much of a hassle for me to use. (Even though I use Rockbox, its GUI is way too ugly.) My library is in FLAC, so I can either directly import it (if it supported FLAC) or have Foobar convert FLAC files on the fly (if it supported drag-and-drop).
deepak Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 Not too thrilled with any of them. If only the iTouch had more space.
n_maher Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 The new classic is probably my next Ipod. Although I'll be keeping a watchful eye on the refurb store since it would stand to reason that the old 80gig model should be less than the new especially if it's a refurb.
JBLoudG20 Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 I literally JUST bought a 2GB nano, so I'm returning it this weekend, and I just ordered a 4GB nano for the same price.
n_maher Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 i'm still perfectly happy with my 60 gb video. Yeah, I'm still on a 3G 20gig, which is woefully too small and sooooooooo black and white.
en480c4 Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 My 5G 60GB Video running Rockbox has been great, but I have to remove music to put new music on. That wasn't tough for a while... There was a lot of stuff I didn't miss. But now it's getting tougher and tougher. Thankfully I'm not in a position where I can even consider an iPod upgrade right now, so it's not even an issue
postjack Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 guess the imod 5g is obsolite I hear the upcoming v-dock + iTouch will rival $1750 CD players.
Salt Peanuts Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 I really was hoping the new touch-screen ipod will be able to replace my iPod and Palm (it's a bit of a pain to use Palm with Mac), but that won't be happening unless they drastically increase the storage space on the touch.
aerius Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 I hear the upcoming v-dock + iTouch will rival $1750 CD players. Just for trose, we should call that combo the iTouch myself at night.
Salt Peanuts Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 And the mass sale of previous gen iPod begins - I count 14 or so for sale on the first page of source FS sub-forum on HF.
n_maher Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 And the mass sale of previous gen iPod begins - I count 14 or so for sale on the first page of source FS sub-forum on HF. Sweet, now if only those damn 325s would sell!
mjg Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 dam i just got my vide 80 gig ipod a month ago. 160 gigs for the same price, bleh. whatever they come out with new ones every 6 months. if u need to get a new one to be cool, your gay. The touch one looks like its for people who are too cheap to buy an iphone but want to still look super awesome.
n_maher Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 you should say they sound really good with the iMod, then they would sell. I'm a whore but I ain't no ho!
mirumu Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 I put an order in for the 160GB model earlier today. I've been using a 60GB iPod photo at work for a few years now so this seems to be the ideal upgrade for me. Hope the DAC and line out are half decent at least.
ojnihs Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 Well I think I'm finally going to be replacing my 3G 10gb iPod with the 160gb iPod Classic.
thrice Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 It's tempting to sell my 80GB for the 160GB, but I haven't been it much lately so I can't see how to justify the expense. I think the iPod Touch is actually pretty cool. Once the price comes down and the storage goes up I can see this replacing the nano line or even the classic line entirely. Wi-fi access iPod with big screen and 200GB of storage...yeah I'd go for that.

I could've justified the price if the storage was 60gb - 80gb, but not for 16gb. And the mass purge of iPod continues on the other forum.
jinp6301 Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 so hows this shit sound? better then the 5/5.5 G?
Nanoha Posted September 7, 2007 Author Report Posted September 7, 2007 I doubt anyone can comment on that yet.
mirumu Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 My 160GB iPod Classic arrive yesterday and I'm impressed. It sounds better than I had expected and it appears according to Vinnie it's not worth iModding (It must kill him to say that) http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=259258. I really wish I had heard a 5.5G model to compare but based on what's being said, the Classic should in theory sound better than a stock 5.5G model. It certainly sounds very good for a portable device.
