Agon bluebook says the last Aleph 3 went for $780 (avg $1000, but recent trend is in the 800-ish region) Of course the last one may have had discolored heatsinks or something - but this one doesn't have pics and a feedback score of only 6 isn't exactly confidence inspiring. Anyone need a bluebook lookup, let me know!

Dusty Chalk
As for digital versus vinyl? Well I hear how vinyl works is on a disc they strip out a lot of the highs/lows and it gets re-added in at some level was it by the cartridge or the phonostage? I have no idea (Don't know shit about vinyl). That really clinched it for me. Sure vinyl has more info but if only in the mid range... that doesnt seem good enough to justify it for me. Not to mention taking care of and dealing with vinyl. Sure there is a lot of great vinyl out there and the selection owns sacd/dvd-a in the face... but meh. -10 audiophile points. Dusty Chalk
It's almost impossible to say what the best amp is for K1000s, because they can theoretically work with everything. There is still a huge percentage of speaker amps that people haven't tried with K1000s yet.Thank you for succinctly making the point I was trying to make. Icarium
Yeah that's true, but chances of someone trying a better one and being near enough for me to hear it are kinda slim! But still that just means the K1000 has even more potential to go. If the headphone is badass enough to be in its own tier then its still the most cost effective set up in its tier ;p Sidenote Neilvg had tried his K1000 with his MBL monoblocks and they were good but Zanden smoked it. C'mon man, the midrange is where the music lives It's the bass that gets attenuated and mixed to mono for pressing onto vinyl. The RIAA equalization in the phonostage is what brings the FR back to flat (but the low-end is of course still mono). I've not personally noticed any ill-effects from these shenanigans. Eh, the vinyl care hassle is overrated IMO. I've spent far more time buying/selling/swapping out/cleaning/re-configuring gear in the past, than I have on vinyl care. Sure some OC dudes go crazy with the wet-vac - "spin it once with cleaner X, then cleaner Y, then Z...then all over again after 3 plays" - but that's not necessary. I just spin a record once in the wet-vac cleaner and then all it needs is the occasional swipe from a dry brush. Stylus care is cake with an Onzow, and the TT is good to go for quite a while once it's been set up by expert hands (not mine). I find the plastic wrap & security stickers on CDs are FAR MORE INFURIATING. Plus, vinyl is really far more durable and forgiving than the impression I'd had going into this thing. Icarium
The whole process sounds filthy! This weekend I'll see if Alex Peychev's dream of defeating the finest vinyl rigs (He feels he's already crushed all digital out there) has come true or not ;p
deepak
Then there are Sakuma San and his followers who drive a 300B with another 300B driven by another 300B using interstage Transformer coupling I like the cut of this guys jib
