jinp6301 Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 If an amp/source was going from 220v to 110v or vice versa, is there a decrease in SQ?
Mister X Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 Pretty general question.... want a general answer? It depends. I have one pretty nice "regulated" voltage converter and I cannot measure any difference when I use it. I also have a POS converter that adds a fair amount of measurable noise. In most cases it is much easier to re-wire the primary's in the amp/source. (assuming of course that is even possible)

BTW, how much was your "regulated" one?
Mister X Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 The "regulated one" was like $50 IIRC. What device are we typing about here? (cause like I said before it may be possible to skip the whole convertor thing and just re-wire the primarys and I am sure you could find someone near you to do it for you)
jinp6301 Posted September 1, 2007 Author Report Posted September 1, 2007 Well this is just a possible buy of an Accuphase CD player.
Absorbine_Sr Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 I've been using one of these to power a 220v X-Ray v3, and have not noticed any noise that might be a result of the converter: http://www.voltageconverters.com/itemdesc.asp?CartId={FDCB76EVERESTC9-1240-4E7B-8CDD-748A66551BC6}&ic=VC300W Reks heard the X-Ray at the Cinci meet - did sound noisy to you Reks?
jinp6301 Posted September 2, 2007 Author Report Posted September 2, 2007 where is the reckster? (Thats right, I gave you a nickname, what cha going to do about it Please dont edit this!)
Elephas Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 Well this is just a possible buy of an Accuphase CD player. I believe most Accuphase CDPs can be adjusted for 100V, 110V, 220V, etc. Previous models could be switched easily, while the recent DP-500 requires opening the bottom of the case and desoldering and soldering a piece of wire.
