VPI Posted December 20, 2022 Report Posted December 20, 2022 Got a box of vice stuff that is now no longer needed. Might still build the Moxon vice for a clamp on vice but the Sjoberg probably will not be used. Quote
swt61 Posted December 21, 2022 Author Report Posted December 21, 2022 I feel like Brent could incorporate those into his peirced nipple jewelry collection. Quote
swt61 Posted December 22, 2022 Author Report Posted December 22, 2022 It's not cool! One man's Walnut rolling pen is another man's Ebony penis extension. Al, do I have a case for infringement? Quote

VPI Posted January 4, 2023 Report Posted January 4, 2023 I am hoping some magical fairies show up at night night and do it all for me. No Steve, not what you are picturing. 1 1 Quote
VPI Posted January 5, 2023 Report Posted January 5, 2023 After two hours of reviewing the Benchcrafted plans, I have only been able to deduce that the bench seems to be built out of various pieces of wood and the red thing seems to screw onto the spinny things. Think I might go back to making beer openers and put this on hold as I might be getting myself into a 5 year, $20k build based on my skill set. 1 3 Quote

I think you must be a graduate from ship building school, to complete those plans. Quote
VPI Posted January 10, 2023 Report Posted January 10, 2023 Decided to scavenge pieces from the old drill press cart to build something with more drawers and a shelf to store various jigs across the bottom. Also needed it to be a bit shorter to limit lifting of the heavy ass drill press and fit the taller unit. New drill press will evidently be delivered tomorrow. 3 Quote

The problem I faced when making my bench (the classic Klausz design) was - you need a bench to build a bench. A real chicken and egg thing. Had to get a free engineer's bench to build the bench on. Built the top out of quarter sawn beech with a sapele underframe. Absolutely solid, zero racking no matter what I'm doing. Mind you, your workshop is much much bigger than my converted garage - seriously jealous! Quote
VPI Posted January 11, 2023 Report Posted January 11, 2023 Realize now I should have gone with less spalted maple and more hydraulic lifting table base in the drill press table. Heavy and awkward motherfucker. On an unrelated note, does anyone know the symptoms of a hernia? 3 Quote

dsavitsk Posted January 12, 2023 Report Posted January 12, 2023 We occasionally have sugar maple with tap holes around here. It looks similar, except the holes are larger. 6 Quote
