luvdunhill Posted February 27, 2023 Report Posted February 27, 2023 That’s why they call it woodworking 1
Grahame Posted February 27, 2023 Report Posted February 27, 2023 Would you really want Brent operating heavy machinery? Well, maybe you would.
VPI Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 Spent way too much of my time today fixing broken blast gates and the shitty planer so ended up giving up on milling the workbench top and started on my science experiment. So cool. 4

VPI Posted March 2, 2023 Report Posted March 2, 2023 I was very much thinking of watch building as I put it together. Really like this guy’s product as he is super over the top detailed in his build and even provides special tools to put it together that appear to be custom made as well. Since it is going to take me six months to build this bench due to lack of room and shitty mitre saw, I might end up buying some of his nerdy accessories and go all out with the vices for the bench.
swt61 Posted March 2, 2023 Author Report Posted March 2, 2023 I watch a lot of stuff that would be considered vice too!
VPI Posted March 2, 2023 Report Posted March 2, 2023 (edited) Andrew Klein. He also made a cool app for confirming bandsaw blade tension by tone and a crazy invisible screw thingy. Fucking piece of shit Bosch mitre saw is giving me some massively out of square end cuts on the legs. If I had the room I would go buy something else and build a mitre saw station instead of this bench. Between the loose lock downs and the worst designed stop block in the world, this thing is about five minutes from going in the lake. Now going to try to further calibrate this thing as my delve square shows the blade is pretty square to the table and the fence. Edited March 2, 2023 by VPI 1 1
naamanf Posted March 5, 2023 Report Posted March 5, 2023 (edited) Put up a French cleat wall to utilize some space behind my saw station. Testing using T-track and dowels for my red tools. Will build something proper soon. Edited March 5, 2023 by naamanf 4
VPI Posted March 5, 2023 Report Posted March 5, 2023 Pretty fancy. What is the conversion cable for on the power cord? I am thinking the board will end up being about 1/4” after I get all of this twist out.
naamanf Posted March 5, 2023 Report Posted March 5, 2023 The Hilti has a 20a plug. The Hilti has a 20a plug. Fixing that now actually.
VPI Posted March 5, 2023 Report Posted March 5, 2023 Wiring the service for 20amp or just changing the outlet? I am about beat and beaten down by milling maple that twists back as soon as you cut it to size after running all 87k lbs of it through the jointer and planer. Might take the rest to the lumber guy and pay him to run it through this big machines.

Might need to let the wood settle for a week after first surfacing. I had no issues with all the rough lumber I used for mine though.
VPI Posted March 5, 2023 Report Posted March 5, 2023 Just massive tension in the boards. Maybe not dried properly. The board will actually twist mid cut and bind up everything.

Voltron Posted March 6, 2023 Report Posted March 6, 2023 That's a lot to twisting. I think some head control is warranted 2
VPI Posted March 6, 2023 Report Posted March 6, 2023 All the mortises are cut so beginning the tenon process tonight. Also got the back, ugly half, of the bench top glued up except for the Birds Eye maple that will be the visible side the bench top. 3
naamanf Posted March 8, 2023 Report Posted March 8, 2023 (edited) Tossed together a holder for the drills with some 3D printed mounts for extra batteries. Might spend the next month just making holders for stuff 😂 Edited March 8, 2023 by naamanf 4
VPI Posted March 8, 2023 Report Posted March 8, 2023 My Milwaukee holder needs about 4 more slots now so I am going to have to rebuild. The new Veritas shoulder plane is going to get some work as the SawStop dado blades did not give me fantastic shoulders on my tenons.
VPI Posted March 8, 2023 Report Posted March 8, 2023 Yep, just have to figure out how the son of a bitch works. Off to YouTube University.
VPI Posted March 10, 2023 Report Posted March 10, 2023 Got 4 new power supplies for the iVac blast gates and instructions to ground the blast gates. All larger bricks and ac/ac unlike the originals I guess. 1
