Thanks Nate. Added the rest of the shiplap and now need to figure out a barn door solution and get to work on the roof. Also need to add molding on the back as the side of the shiplap is awful.

Get better Frisco!

I had a dog (before Suzy) that had to go on anti-siezure medication. It helped immensely.

Yeah Frisco is on Keppra and CBD Oils but these last ones seem to be getting worse. Going to have to get him in to a true neurologist I think.

Today I went to check out a new project that I'll be heading up in the Oakland Hills.

The house is owned by a former client that I dearly love. While there I got to talking to her tenant who was in the process of moving out.

He offered me several pieces of mahogany, left over from a project. Then he asked if I'd be interested in an old Stanley router. Not sure how old, but it's old, and all metal. While I was looking that over, he brought me the first powered drill, patented in 1917. Super awesome stuff! Pics to follow. My plan is to offer them up to the new woodshop, as decoration, even though I believe they both work. He wouldn't take any money. He just wanted them to be appreciated. They will!

I made lumber! The tree cutter who took down my brother's trees gave me some small Black Acacia logs and I just tried cutting 5/4 slabs out of it. I think I may have discovered the Temple of Gozer the Gozerian in the middle of the log. 😱

After 8-10 redesigns, we have settled on the final top of the dog crate which will end up having a 2” lip of ebonized oak around the outside to tie it together with the rest of the crate. The big slab of Purple Heart was “too dark” for Kasia so I dug up some maple.

Is this with the bandsaw or some kind of mill?

That resaw looks awesome.

Finally got some time to work on the bench today. Knocked out building the deadman with a walnut inlay to carry on the theme. Also cut and glued down the deadman rail. So close, just need to build the center divider. Then clean up and finish.

Could you describe gore you’re doing the inlays.

Pretty simple, female is V carved .11 with a 60deg bit, male is cut at .02 with a start depth of .09 with the same bit.  Male is a mirror of the female. Then glued up and clamped. Once dry the male portion is cut of on the bandsaw (could also surface it off on the CNC but bandsaw is way quicker). Then sand.

It is beautiful indeed. But I have to say, you've had the ping pong table for a while now, and it's driving me crazy that you haven't built some crazy cool speaker enclosures. The sky is the limit. Think of the crazy wave guides you could ping pong!

I know, it’s on the list, I just know I’m going to want to go crazy and build something nice. Jodi was sick of hearing about my Roubo after the first week. Can’t imagine how she will react when I build some speakers she can’t even hear 😂

Or you could tackle one of these https://www.linkwitzlab.com/ . The LX Mini is a monopole and the LX521.4 is a dipole.

Craig

Always been curious how those sounded. Maybe down the line.

Worked a little more on the bench. Planed it down and cleaned up the rest. Applied the first coat of Tried and True.

I hope you're happier with the vice now that some finish is making it pop!

A little better, I’ll probably live with it since it’s perfectly function and will remind me what not to screw up.
