deepak Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 What are your preferred RCA connectors? I'm thinking about buying some good bang for the buck connectors and looking for opinions. No strict budget. Will need a total of 8.
JBLoudG20 Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 bang for buck? the canare F10 is my favorite for a good quality plug, while not breaking the wallet.
n_maher Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 My personal favorite is the Neutrik Pro-fi. If I had to use a Canare plug I'd choose the F-09, I prefer its form factor to the F-10, specifically the enclosed ground connection.
aerius Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 I have no idea who makes these things, but these are the ones I use.
JBLoudG20 Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 They are a generic plug, I believe. Redco sells them, as do many other places, and call them 'house' connectors.
deepak Posted August 15, 2007 Author Report Posted August 15, 2007 The Canare "slinky" always turned me off, strictly from an aesthetics point of view. I might have to grab some Profis.
deepak Posted August 15, 2007 Author Report Posted August 15, 2007 you don't have to use the "slinky." a little heatshrink should be adequate strain relief. Good to know.
n_maher Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 Good to know. My favorite trick, when not using the slinky is to shrink around the clamp at the back of the RCA to create a strain relief. This also works very nicely with Cardas 1/4" TRS plugs that otherwise have no strain relief. Of course you could always cover the slinky in shrink if you wanted.

philodox Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 Why would I use an inferior design like an RCA connector when XLRs are readily available?
