Torpedo Posted September 2 Author Report Posted September 2 Vicious. Two seasons of 7 episodes each. Funny and tender. Excellent acting
jpelg Posted September 12 Report Posted September 12 (edited) Monsieur Spade - very well-done. Cinematically filmed, with a smartly-written script, yet subtly so (as in using language well, not in the "I'm smarter than you" way). Clive Owen delivers it perfectly. Six episodes. mikeymad Posted September 12 Report Posted September 12 There is a show about David Spade? Dang. I will have to check it out. 2
jpelg Posted September 16 Report Posted September 16 I know I'm late to the game on this one, but we could all use more humor these days: 6
jpelg Posted September 30 Report Posted September 30 (edited) Slow Horses (AppleTV) - finished s1, started s2... Again, late to the party, but after finishing Ted Lasso, I figured my ear was already trained for a variety of British accents, so... I probably should just put everything that Pars, Grahame, Torpedo, & blessingx recommend onto my watch-lists. Edited September 30 by jpelg 5 3
blessingx Posted October 5 Report Posted October 5 (edited) On that note, Slow Horses and The Old Man are really on a higher level these seasons, no? They’re practically about family. blessingx Posted October 10 Report Posted October 10 Recently came across a reference to The Secret Diary of Desmond Pfeiffer (UPN 1998). Somehow not only did this make it to production, but four episodes were aired, before being canceled.
HiWire Posted October 13 Report Posted October 13 (edited) Jack of All Trades (2000) Bruce Campbell does it again! It's in a shorter format than The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. (22-minute episodes), but brilliant, nevertheless. American secret agent Jack Stiles is sent to the fictional French-controlled island of Pulau-Pulau in the East Indies in 1801 by President Thomas Jefferson to stop Napoleon and various other threats to the United States. blessingx Posted October 14 Report Posted October 14 (edited) Mr. McMahon. Have zero interest in “sports entertainment”, but someone recommended I watch this six-part series to get a condensed view of the rise of incels, the Trump GOP takeover, and the loss of focus on truth, and gotta admit it’s pretty good through that lens. tkam Posted October 14 Report Posted October 14 Finished Slow Horses today, what a fabulous show! Gary Oldman is so damn good 5
TMoney Posted October 14 Report Posted October 14 I did not think I would end up liking this show as I’m not much of a comic book/superhero person. Well, through four episodes this is not that! I find myself enjoying this show quite a bit. Colin F is almost unrecognizable and I always have enjoyed Cristin as the other lead. So far, so good! Surprisingly enjoyable. 1
jpelg Posted October 15 Report Posted October 15 (edited) ^This! Farrell disappears in his performance under the body suit. But Milioti is an amaaazing actress, who secures Sofia Falcone's place as the most badass mafiosa of all time in episode 4 (Cent'Anni). Edited October 28 by jpelg 1
blessingx Posted October 16 Report Posted October 16 For those who haven’t heard Slow Horses season 5 just wrapped and season 6 has been early renewed. 3 1
mikeymad Posted November 1 Report Posted November 1 The Haunting of Hill House (2018) I know I am late to this and it is a little on the nose for Halloween viewing - but it was also good. 2
Grahame Posted November 8 Report Posted November 8 (edited) Just finished The Diplomat: Season 2 Intrigue, smart writing, twists and turns, and fabulous interiors and locations. File under political escapism. Edited November 8 by Grahame 1

blessingx Posted Saturday at 04:26 AM Report Posted Saturday at 04:26 AM Did anyone think Taylor actually won that? 1
