luvdunhill Posted August 24, 2009 Report Posted August 24, 2009 These days, many people hold personal offense in higher regard than just about any sort of corporate offense.
matt fury Posted August 24, 2009 Report Posted August 24, 2009 Yah, "I don't like supporting Rocky Patel, because he didn't act the way I like at a corporate event" and "I'm gonna support Habanos Ltd, because Cuba's such a spiffy place" is like patronizing nazi germany because winston churchill didn't invite you to join his private club. When have I ever said that I patronize Habanos because Cuba is such a spiffy place? More accurate would be that I patronize Habanos despite it arguably being a fascist shithole.
grawk Posted August 24, 2009 Author Report Posted August 24, 2009 Either you care about the maker or you don't.
matt fury Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 That's bullshit. I don't have to actively like & support the maker to buy their product, I just have to not hate them. And even then, if I really like their cigars, I can make certain concessions. In the case of The Paki, I don't like his cigars, and so far, in my experience, he has been douche'y. So I have no reason to patronize him. And the thing with Cuba is a faulty analogy anyway, because Habanos SA really runs the Cuban cigar business - much more than Fidel et al.
postjack Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 Yesterday a Plasencia Reserve. It was OK, easy draw, mild taste. I'll smoke the other four eventually but not super feeling it at the moment. other then that is pretty much just been Partagas Shorts, which are awesome. really the perfect size and strength combination for me, and that whole sugar sunshine thing it does in the last third is hard to beat.
tyrion Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 I just got a bunch of new smokes, now to make the time to smoke one.
postjack Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 601, pretty sure it's a Green. one of the best cigars I've tried, in my limited experience. also had an Oliva Serie O and Partagas Short this weekend.
Voltron Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 A San Cristobal de Habana thanks to Naaman.
postjack Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 RP Vintage 2nd, 1990, PC. tastes like a regular vintage to me. love these cigars!
ronnielee54 Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Nothing, I quit and I am about to go crazy.
tyrion Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 It was good. Smoked well and was mild to moderate in strength with a nice spicy flavor. I have these in a maduro as well which I prefer to smoke when at night when it's cooler (first time it's his 80 in a while).
Knuckledragger Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 I brought a handful of cigars to the Vineyard, but the weather has not lent itself to smoking them.
Knuckledragger Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Not smoking anything, but I just tried a Marlboro "Snus" packet that a friend gave me. It is unbelievably disgusting. You ever sample the syrup used to make fountain drinks? It was like that, made from aromatic pipe tobacco. It's one letter off from "anus" for a reason. :barf:
grawk Posted April 6, 2010 Author Report Posted April 6, 2010 I just had a Jose L. Piedra. Best $2 cigar ever
mypasswordis Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 I just had a Jose L. Piedra. Best $2 cigar ever Does that actually make them worth smoking? I've been looking for a decently full-bodied, not too spicy and not too pricey go-to cigar.
grawk Posted April 6, 2010 Author Report Posted April 6, 2010 Does that actually make them worth smoking? I've been looking for a decently full-bodied, not too spicy and not too pricey go-to cigar. They are pretty good for the money. About $40 a box. They aren't available from us sources though.
