naamanf Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 I smoked an oliva serie v Win Sabor Cubana Grand Torpedo.

grawk Posted July 30, 2009 Author Report Posted July 30, 2009 I am smoking a 2 year old el rico habano rico club maduro. I like these quite a bit.
postjack Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 A friend of mine really likes those 5 Vegasesees. it was different, but enjoyable. started out with a really easy draw, which weirder me out. but the taste was good, nothing amazing and intricate, but good. everything improved towards the end of the cigar. draw got more "normal", taste a little fuller. on the whole not bad for my newbie pallette. apparently they are like don pepin's budget brand. ooh, I bought some ronson lighters from wal-mart this week. much better then wood matches!
grawk Posted July 30, 2009 Author Report Posted July 30, 2009 IJWTS that the combination of heat and that rico club kicked my ass.
matt fury Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 Smoked the big Tempus and umm...something else I can't remember during the Cannonball yesterday. Both were "meh."
grawk Posted August 3, 2009 Author Report Posted August 3, 2009 I liked the "The Edge" lancero I tried. I've heard there might be counterfeit edges out there. Of course, it could just be that you don't like them
matt fury Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Fell asleep smoking a '98 Fundie last night. I was ashamed of myself this morning.
grawk Posted August 4, 2009 Author Report Posted August 4, 2009 Had a JLP yesterday. Not enamoured, but for under $3, it's hard to complain.
matt fury Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Are you happy @ $3 and just not in love? Or totally unimpressed?
grawk Posted August 4, 2009 Author Report Posted August 4, 2009 (edited) At $3, I preferred the El Ricos, but you can't get those for $3 anymore, so I'll probably end up ordering more. I'll say I'll reserve judgement til I've had a few more. I still appreciate the pointer, they're not dog rockets. updated: trying another one now Jose L. Piedra Brevas Not bad for a cheap cigar. Construction is rough, but flavor isn't bad. Edited August 4, 2009 by grawk
postjack Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 oliva serie g. got a nice oliva score at the local b&m today. apparently it's oliva month. 10 olivas for $40. some G, some O, some V, some Nubs, some CT reserves.
matt fury Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 They're machine-made, so construction can occasionally be spotty. Revisit them after they've had a rest, they're usually a bit more impressive than that. I can't recall which, but it's either the brevas or the cremas that my friends prefer.
naamanf Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Jose L. Piedra Brevas Not bad for a cheap cigar. Construction is rough, but flavor isn't bad. Have not tried the Brevas but did go through a bundle of the Cazadores. Not bad but for a little bit more you can get the Por Larranaga Panetelas which IMHO are far superior.
matt fury Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 We've had nothing but bad luck with the Cazadores, which is a shame, because the size is a lot better than the smaller JLPs. The PLPs are pretty good, but a lot more expensive these days, esp. considering the size.
ojnihs Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 technically not smoking, but got me a tin of snus
grawk Posted August 5, 2009 Author Report Posted August 5, 2009 they claim "totalament a mano" on the box. I've had one of each so far. We'll see, I've got 24 of each left
