Salt Peanuts Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 Holy crap, I see the rise in price of old RS-1s already Well, so much me buying a pair anytime soon.
postjack Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 Holy shit, it appears that they did the same to the RS-1. Maybe this is just a bad picture but BLECH! oh noes. :'(
jinp6301 Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 grado construction sucks more then it used to
postjack Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 what's really frustrating to me is Grado Labs complete silence on the issue. Why can't they release a statement?
deepak Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 Well, so much me buying a pair anytime soon. x2 Salts. x god damn two
tkam Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 what's really frustrating to me is Grado Labs complete silence on the issue. Why can't they release a statement? Well really what would they say? It's not like they'd admit to the lower standards or the fact that they haven't cleaned their molds in about 3 decades.
PFKMan23 Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 Well really what would they say? It's not like they'd admit to the lower standards or the fact that they haven't cleaned their molds in about 3 decades. Indeed.
postjack Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 Well really what would they say? It's not like they'd admit to the lower standards or the fact that they haven't cleaned their molds in about 3 decades. True. I'd at least like some worthless marketing fluff though.
MrSlacker Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 RS-1 now has the same design as new RS-2.. looks like shit
deepak Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 Jesus F107plus5 is like the official Grado apologist. He posts multiple times in every single Grado/Alessandro thread, and every post more or less says the exact same thing
aerius Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Holy shit, it appears that they did the same to the RS-1. Maybe this is just a bad picture but BLECH! On the bright side, I think I like the colour better. On the downside, holy christ does the wood & lettering ever look like shit.
HiWire Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 I guess I won't be getting an MS-Pro any time soon.
kontai69 Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Jesus F107plus5 is like the official Grado apologist. I remember "F107" saying that he actually likes the defects in Grados because they remind him that they were made by human hands and not some robot.
PFKMan23 Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 I remember "F107" saying that he actually likes the defects in Grados because they remind him that they were made by human hands and not some robot. I wonder if those wood cups actually are made by human hands.
deepak Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 I remember "F107" saying that he actually likes the defects in Grados because they remind him that they were made by human hands and not some robot. Good thing the Grado cups I have coming were made by Head-Case's "Lord of the Lathe"
mulveling Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 For $700 MSRP...that is absolutely retarded. I hope Grado takes a big hit in sales and realizes that they can only glide by on brand name and get away with crap quality to a certain extent. They have fallen far, so very far from the hp1000 standards I've been talking audio a lot with the guy that runs the local antique/vinyl shop - he told me he recently tried a Grado wood cart, and that it was crap

For that matter, it would be nice if Grado would update their site, too.

n_maher Posted September 2, 2007 Author Report Posted September 2, 2007 There's just no excuse for the way these first examples of the redesign look. Handmade, machine made, who gives a shit? Either way they look sloppy and rushed and never should have passed anything called QC. After Tuesday night I'll post up a couple of high quality pics of Ian's and my latest handiwork as proof that any idiot can make a decent looking set of cups.
postjack Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Honestly this guy's beer hat avatar always rubbed me the wrong way (look at me i cna drink beers in mah hat), but he is spot on the money with this post.

His avatar is a photoshop joke for how ugly the K1000 is (you can find the thread if you search).
postjack Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 lmilhan is a cool guy. His avatar is a photoshop joke for how ugly the K1000 is (you can find the thread if you search). good to know. I never made any real judgment about his character, I just did the old budweiser hat = asshole equation. but I'll take your word he's a good guy.
n_maher Posted September 3, 2007 Author Report Posted September 3, 2007 I think this would mave a lovely avatar.
hirsch Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 Holy crap, I see the rise in price of old RS-1s already It happened long ago. The RS-1 used to be routinely found used for under $400 (over the years I bought four at that pricing, some for friends). Try finding that deal now.
