swt61 Posted January 15, 2021 Author Report Posted January 15, 2021 Had to look that up. Wasn't aware of the remix.
luvdunhill Posted January 15, 2021 Report Posted January 15, 2021 Had to look that up. Wasn't aware of the remix. It has an amazing front to back soundstage - I am not sure how exactly, but there you go. 1

I was looking at the Symbol furniture recently, but thankfully, they didn't have anything that really fit my space/needs, so I didn't need to find a way to justify it, but I do like a bit of their stuff.

swt61 Posted January 27, 2021 Author Report Posted January 27, 2021 ^ You don't just acknowledge that you're spinning vinyl, you tell us what vinyl you're spinning! 1
skullguise Posted January 27, 2021 Report Posted January 27, 2021 (edited) Audiophile Abbott and Costello! Who's playing on the turntable? Yes..... Yes is on the turntable? No, Who. That's what I'm asking! Edited January 28, 2021 by skullguise 3

recstar24 Posted January 28, 2021 Report Posted January 28, 2021 ready for some good vibes. (pun intended) 6
recstar24 Posted February 7, 2021 Report Posted February 7, 2021 This is an impex reissue of early Columbia era Sinatra, and historically was his first album to feature him on all swing, uptempo tunes. I have never heard Frank sound this real! Impex knocked it out of the park mastered from original master tape, gatefold cover and some of the best liner notes in booklet form I’ve ever read. $35! Insane value. Please buy now. 1 2
swt61 Posted February 7, 2021 Author Report Posted February 7, 2021 Won't actually be spinning it until Monday, but picked this up on Amazon. This album and Nick Hayward really influanced my direction for years to come. I still love those British groups with those smooth, crooner voices. Spandau Ballet, ABC, Style Council, etc... Something about those industrial cities that birthed such amazing talent. 5

As a fan of several Manchester groups who were NOT necessarily smooth, crooner voices (Joy Division, Chameleons, Smiths, Fall, Durutti Column, Buzzcocks, etc.) I still thoroughly agree! Grahame Posted February 7, 2021 Report Posted February 7, 2021 "Great creativity comes from great hardship" As a form of escapism from the reality of the times ( no job, no future) - form a band with your mates. And you could do it "on the dole" https://m.huffingtonpost.co.uk/horace-trubridge/class-and-the-arts_b_8647352.html Plus, it's grim up north. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/It's_Grim_Up_North Although, sometimes, it's not all bad 1
Torpedo Posted February 7, 2021 Report Posted February 7, 2021 Basically desperation in the Thatcher era.
swt61 Posted February 7, 2021 Author Report Posted February 7, 2021 Dream Academy has to fall into my top ten favorite bands list. 1

morphsci Posted February 8, 2021 Report Posted February 8, 2021 I think Elusive Disc is above board. It did say backordered so I am not sure what that will actually mean tomorrow.
