JBLoudG20 Posted July 29, 2007 Report Posted July 29, 2007 This is aimed at jpizzle, and nate: Would one of you be willing to host a meet for the three of us, as suggested in another thread? The weekend that was looking the best, was that of August 11-12. Would we all be able to make it then?
deepak Posted July 29, 2007 Report Posted July 29, 2007 I'm down for a meet that weekend. I think I'm going to a bachelor party in Newport that Friday night, so I would prefer a Sunday meet. As for hosting I can ask my parents, I'm sure they'd be fine with it unless they were having friends over. They have a huge finished basement that's pretty much empty except for a gym. They live just outside Concord (in Bow) so I think it would be fairly accessible to anyone. I could offer up my apartment in Hanover, but I'm pretty sure my lease is ending before that.
JBLoudG20 Posted July 30, 2007 Author Report Posted July 30, 2007 Looks to be a 3 hour haul for me, not too bad.
n_maher Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 That weekend might be tough but if it comes together I'll push to attend. I'd offer to host but we've already got stuff 2 weekends in August.
JBLoudG20 Posted July 30, 2007 Author Report Posted July 30, 2007 I know I'm free that day, and all I have to do is hop in my car for a few hours, so its not a big deal for me. The weekend after I think is close to when jpiggidy moves, and I am busy (as well as I think jpak said he was) on the weekend of the 4th.
deepak Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 I spoke to my dad and Sunday the 12th isn't looking good at my parents house. He's having friends over from his work. And I'm going to Niagara the first weekend of August, and the weekend of the 18th I'll be super busy
deepak Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 Shot the fuck down. Hard. Not yet, let me see about library reading rooms (Saturday) I'll add an update tomorrow.
en480c4 Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 I'd offer to host, but my place is way to small. And I'm not sure my office would be the best place to have a mini-meet... It's loud and has really, really crummy power.
JBLoudG20 Posted July 31, 2007 Author Report Posted July 31, 2007 [me=JBLoudG20]is an idiot[/me] DUH! Ian I hope you can make it!
deepak Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 Keep watching for updates, I really want this meet to happen that weekend. I'll try and work something out, it shouldn't be that hard with 4 people.
en480c4 Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 [me=JBLoudG20]is an idiot[/me] DUH! Ian I hope you can make it! I see how it is... [me=en480c4]sulks in the corner[/me]
deepak Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 Update: I can get the Hampton Inn Hotel conference room for August 11 or 12 for $100 for the entire day: http://www.hamptoninn.com/en/hp/hotels/groups.jhtml;jsessionid=4UKTFEYRTKGTECSGBIY2VCQ?ctyhocn=CCDNHHX edit: still calling around
deepak Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 $100 is looking like the cheapest I can get for a room at a hotel (probably because the hotel is on the Bow/Concord border and not very central to most things). All the ones in Concord are between $120-150. IMO this is still sort of expensive for 4 people once we factor in food. But I'm still looking into things
JBLoudG20 Posted August 1, 2007 Author Report Posted August 1, 2007 ROFL lets have a raffle to cover meet costs! Eh if need be I can cover 50 or so for room and food... its the gas up there that will kill me!
en480c4 Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 Thanks for looking into this. My availability shouldn't change, but the wiring harness in the JEEP I restored this winter/spring caught fire today, and it needs to be rewired... Again. The replacement harness should be here Monday, which means the 11th/12th would be the first chance I'll have to do it. I guess I'll shoot to do that whichever day all of this doesn't go down depending on everyone else's availability.
deepak Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 ROFL lets have a raffle to cover meet costs! Eh if need be I can cover 50 or so for room and food... its the gas up there that will kill me! Much appreciated JB. I'll try and negotiate a lower rate with Hampton so it's not such a burden. Ian: I'm leaning towards a Sunday meet. Saturday might not be so good for me since I might not be back in NH until 3 pm-ish.
JBLoudG20 Posted August 1, 2007 Author Report Posted August 1, 2007 Sunday actually works better for me too, but I can make either day.
n_maher Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 Well considering that I'm Ian's electrical tech on the JEEP project my status is up in the air. I can't believe I have to wire that whore a second time.

JBLoudG20 Posted August 2, 2007 Author Report Posted August 2, 2007 OOO when will the parts arrive? Will Jay finish his M^3 in time for the meet? Can humanity be saved? I am feeling confident this will happen so... what are you bringing?
n_maher Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 DIY Transport -> Hertsens DAC -> Wheatfield HA-2 -> Senn 650s w/ Zu and maybe the K340s
en480c4 Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 Denon DVD-4800 or DA-500 -> Millett Hybrid or Lunchbox -> Woodied HF-1 or HD600 or ATH-EW9 I definitely don't forsee any purchases between now and then, though I have been known to suspend good judgement before...
JBLoudG20 Posted August 2, 2007 Author Report Posted August 2, 2007 OH SHIT thats right, the venerable Dac. I need to hear that. I'll bring: MSB Digital Link III SOHA M^3 (assuming its done by then) Maaaaaybe the VanTOTL. It's still a work in progress, becuase I am rebuilding the B+ PSU, but It might be fun to comapare to the HA-2, since they use the same tube compliment. Just ignore that low level hum K701 W10VTG
n_maher Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 Don't worry about a little hum, the Wheatfield's got a touch of that as well. I like to think it's just telling me it's ready to go.
